None of the parties reconcile with me. I'd prefer to debate individual policies.

I'll admit though, that I do really, really dislike Abbott with a passion.

It will be blank at the upcoming election unless one of the major parties does an about-face on their immigration policy.

I don't know why people hate Abbott. He seems okay to me and he is one smart cookie - Rhodes Scholar no less. I was the same with Hawke and Keating and my opinion was based on their insufferable arrogance and insincerity. I also disliked Rudd because of the same reasons and of course I don't really hate Gillard - I'm sure she is a nice person - but I hate her attitude and weakness. I hated Rann until I met him and I liked him after that but just didn't like the job he did.

what do you want? More immigrants or less? Do you care where they are from and what sort of people they are?

Each vote nets the party or individual $2 so you might as well mark it and direct it at least away from the party you despise!

It's not a protest, more an expression of disillusionment.

I suppose every one of us is one-eyed when it comes to politics.

As far as I can tell, there are no ALP members posting (?), but there are probably at least 2 Liberal Part members.

I don't think that affects the validity of their opinions, it just means they are passionate about their views and that's somethng I applaud.

You and who else?

How do you know they are members of the Liberal Party?

I tend to feel an obligation to make my vote count even if I can only choose the lesser of two evils, which is often what I do have to do.

I'm a Liberal Party member, and on the executive of a branch.
I joined the Libs in the mid-90s after both major parties had lurched to the right and have referred to myself as the party's left wing ever since.
I felt I should join a party and oppose the national swing to the right rather than ignore it.

I regarded the Liberals as the lesser of two evils because the internal structures mean that every member gets a say, and doesn't get excluded for disagreeing with official policy.
I doubt I'd get elected to the executive of an ALP branch after openly disputing some party policies...
