Interesting point, one that Laurie Oakes who normally adopts a pro ALP bias in his writing is advocating at present, Oakes is not the only one that thinks it, plenty of people from the ALP Left and other commentors that generally support their views are calling for him to be sacked from the ALP also.
I think the public are getting to see a ALP Left vs Right battle being played out in front of them with this, if Rudd wins, the ALP left will for a brief time have won control of the ALP, that is why I think its unlikely to happen. As much as his ALP collegues may hate his guts he like Turbull is popular with the Australian public, it would be an even worse result for the ALP if there is such a thing if Rudd was to be thrown out of the ALP as that would effectivley unrust enough people from them to do damage.
The other option is that Rudd could simply resign and become an independant, he would easilly win if he chose that option. Personally I think he will be there on the day after they are decimated to pieces to rebuild it back to the conservative right and to have his revenge on those that opposed him.
