The police aren't interested and the Union haven't lost any money as he was owed entitlements.

I think the ALP should investiaget and discipline him if necessary, but as am Bays said, political expediency will prevail, as it has particularly since John Howard trashed the previous standards.

How many jobs in Australia would you not get the sack from if it was discovered you were misusing a company credit card to pay for prostitutes?

Why are you still on about it?

I've agreed with that, but the issue is whether he should resign from Parliament. This is between him and the Union and the authorities.

I presume you believe in innocent until proven guilty?

I'm just wondering if I can find a job where I can have a night out with some prostitutes instead of receiving owed entitlements. Sounds like a good gig.

I think previous standards were well and truly trashed when Bob Collins was made a Minster by Hawke. His alleged crimes were a well known to Territorians.

Yes, I think we could go back to Federation.

There used to be some standards, though, until John Howard sacked several ministers in his early days, then decided to sack no-one, no matter what.

Or Paul Keating refusing to sack himself over his NSW Piggery debacle...

Admitedly it surfaced three years after he got pants by Howard but as the then Prime Minister and former worlds greaest treasurer?

Did he lie to parliament over his piggery dealings?
Did he cheat on his tax return?

My point though R&B is that yes you can go back to federation or to even more "dodgy times" Colonial politics but pleasse do me a favour nda don't hold up John Howard as the epitome of political expediency.

Whoooh - come on mate - I've made a hand full of post and all of a sudden I get - why am I still going on about it? Seriously come on - as I've said previously - just because it may not be good reading for you doesn't mean its not allowed to be written.

So you agree he should be sacked - no more post from me then... adios

Mate, it was a genuine question, not aggro, as I'd already said I thought he'd done the wrong thing, so I wondered why it was still an issue.

aB, I didn't say that. I've only said that in recent times, he was the PM who changed the doctrine of Ministerial Responsibility. I think most political pundits wouldn't have an aissue with that.

I agreed with you, saying basically that all political leaders since Federation were politically expedient.

As for Paul Keating, you're drawing a long bow there. As I recall, no charges were ever contemplated or anything adverse proved about his piggery.

Peter Reith on the other hand........

Sorry to disappoint you, TSG, but if the cap fits...

This is now well off-topic, so I'm advising TSG and particularly redandblack to desist and keep to politics.
