Isn't that the essence of being an independent - voting for whichever side they think is right about the issue on the table, rather than consistently backing one party?fisho mcspaz wrote:I've had a gutful of both Labor and Liberal. It took me a while to get to your comment, after wading through the usual "latte-socialist' crap and the appearance jokes.

One of my Labor sources says a narrow win to Labor this time and a loss next time is what he party expect.
Looking forward to the match!

I haven't met him obviously 'cos I don't do Yoga, but I've talked to Isobel at a couple of barbecues and that's where the quip came from.Bum Crack wrote:Funny you say that. You can of course put the Greens first and fill out the paper to distribute your second and third preferences any way you like - you don't have to follow the party ticket.Gozu wrote:Me too but then again I wouldn't vote Liberal even if I had a gun to my head. I'd vote Greens but then the preferences just go back to Labor. My local member is a complete drop kick in a safe Labor seat (Atkinson) so despite not being into video games might have to vote for Gamers4Croydon.fisho mcspaz wrote:I've had a gutful of both Labor and Liberal. Tuesday night I had dinner with a legal group that included Elliott Johnston - a former Communist Party candidate in SA - so I'm clearly ecumenical.

There are lots of "important" people I don't know, Gozu, but because of where I tend to live and where I socialise there are quite a few I do know reasonably well.Gozu wrote:1. Anyone of importance you haven't met yet Psyber, other than Obama of course?![]()

2. I don't know why I forgot that, it's what I always do tooLibs second to bottom & Family First/Freedom Last bottom.
For example, I was introduced to John Hill within a few weeks of landing back in Adelaide. I hadn't gone to the function to meet him, but he was at the table I sat at.
I tend to cite my sources where I can, and say whom I am quoting, but I do understand that can be seen as big-noting.
It is a difficult balance to maintain...
But I also know a lot of people who aren't "important" in the sense of being public figures.
And some turn into public figures later, like Patrick McGorry whom I used to see regularly at functions in Melbourne.
