Is it over for Rann?

Labor, Liberal, Greens, Democrats? Here's the place to discuss.

Isobel's last [joking] comment to me was, "Wait till I demand a new desk!"
One of my Labor sources says a narrow win to Labor this time and a loss next time is what he party expect.
Looking forward to the match!

I've had a gutful of both Labor and Liberal. Greens will get my vote this time around most likely. My sitting MP is an independent but he has a past history of changing his allegiances so I don't trust him.

Isn't that the essence of being an independent - voting for whichever side they think is right about the issue on the table, rather than consistently backing one party?

Me too but then again I wouldn't vote Liberal even if I had a gun to my head. I'd vote Greens but then the preferences just go back to Labor. My local member is a complete drop kick in a safe Labor seat (Atkinson) so despite not being into video games might have to vote for Gamers4Croydon.

I haven't met him obviously 'cos I don't do Yoga, but I've talked to Isobel at a couple of barbecues and that's where the quip came from. ;)
Tuesday night I had dinner with a legal group that included Elliott Johnston - a former Communist Party candidate in SA - so I'm clearly ecumenical.

You can of course put the Greens first and fill out the paper to distribute your second and third preferences any way you like - you don't have to follow the party ticket.

I mean he used to be a Labor MP and then he switched to Greens and now he is an independent.

There are lots of "important" people I don't know, Gozu, but because of where I tend to live and where I socialise there are quite a few I do know reasonably well.
For example, I was introduced to John Hill within a few weeks of landing back in Adelaide. I hadn't gone to the function to meet him, but he was at the table I sat at.
I tend to cite my sources where I can, and say whom I am quoting, but I do understand that can be seen as big-noting.
It is a difficult balance to maintain...

But I also know a lot of people who aren't "important" in the sense of being public figures.
And some turn into public figures later, like Patrick McGorry whom I used to see regularly at functions in Melbourne.

I thought I read somewhere that Green's preferences were going to Liberal this election?
Maybe I was drunk when I read it?

It's OK.
I took the opportunity to answer the issue for you, and a few others I haven't responded to in the past, who may have been more serious in their digs...

Probably about the time Labor preferenced Family First over the Greens

Got Fielding a Senate seat and he's caused labor nothing but headaches.....karma's a bitch.

I reckon Atkinson would fit right in at Family First.

The interesting thing will be just how big an impact, in terms of preferences, some of the more "high profile, single issue minor parties" will have, such as Save the RAH, the St Clair lobby etc in this election. With discontent over the Premier on a range of issues, but some reluctance in some quarters to fully embrace Liberal, there may be a higher "protest vote/issue specific vote" in some seats that brings it down to the wire.

I also may have missed this, but is there a Save The Chelsea or similar issue party standing in that area?
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...
