How does a candidate win the points in the area when only 5% of the votes are counted?

I would urge folks to ignore very early results unless you have a very good idea of how the areas counted - i.e. in this case the counties that comprise that 6% in Pennsylvania - voted last time around.

Harris ain't winning 76% of Pennsylvania.

There's still no real surprises, every result so far is as expected.

The key here is just how most Americans just vote the same, year after year, regardless of anything, which makes the job so much easier for their political parties to concentrate their resources on relatively small areas of the country.

Just to highlight this, before counting even started, you could bank the electoral votes outside of the 7 battleground states ... Harris 226, Trump 219.

Trump appears to be slightly favoured in Georgia and NC at the moment. The optimistic case for Harris is that Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania are genuinely in doubt. Still, if I had to choose, I'd rather be in Trump's position ATM.
