X2, this government is consistently too internal focused. Either start focussing on the issues that are relevant to people or **** off and let Abbott's mob have a crack at it.

It's the MSM running the story. After two years you should be accustomed to it.

Any political party that is consumed with it's own internal issues which are in the public domain at the expense of policy is dead ... whether they're in government or in opposition.

Regardless of any tangible measure of the government's economic or other performance measures, the public instability and internal warfare will ensure that they will be decimated at the next election.

Simon Crean has just announced that he has asked Julia Gillard to call a leadership spill, and he will not stand for leader but will stand for a position in a leadership team.

He will support Rudd and will put himself forward as his deputy.

... and then be opposition leader for the next 12 years?

The coalition wins either way ... if Gillard stays, then the current haemorrhaging will continue, and if Rudd wins, then all the opposition will just need to do is roll out the statements by Labor ministers at the last leadership ballot crucifying Rudd, then grab a deck chair, esky and some nibbles and watch the implosion.

Crean says if Gillard wins of course he will resign.

Gillard has just called a leadership spill at 4:30pm today in her opening statement in question time.

Simon Crean is not in the chamber.

Kevin Rudd will be the PM this afternoon ... he's currently sitting on the backbench pissing himself.
