Wingard

Would definitely get the Port Power voters on side. ;)

That's what the dumb voters want - a media performer
I'd rather a Robert Champion de Crespigny type

I could quite easily foresee Wingard & Mulligan competing against each other as leaders of their respective parties for a decade or 2.

Wingard

Young, not one of the old guard (yet)

And whilst I hate this, with his professional background (journalist) can get a message across.

Chatting to some in the Libs and they are not sold on this option - although I thought the same as you Am Bays.
There's a perception there's a bit of the Biggles about him. Good media performer, not quite up to scratch with policy.
I still think he goes all right.
I get the feeling the popular option is D VHP. But...I haven't really noticed any profile building from him as yet.
With the Libs, this branch of them anyway, it's all about who can do the best job of creating unity.

That's just my perception from the little contact I have with people.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Peter Malinauskas was ordained as the golden child a long, long time ago. It would take something significant to happen for him not to be Jay's successor.

The nRAH director has stepped down, the independent reviewer is soon to hand down the revised opening date and it's fairly certain that date will be into 2017, well into 2017.It was meant for completion now, in fact April 2016 was PC date, it looks like it could be at least 12 months delayed. It was revised to November but that seems unlikely.

Liquidated damages to the joint venture HY&L consortium are around $850,000 per day. Yes, per day.

So let's work that roughly 365 days late at $850,000 per day = $310,250,000. Let's call it $310m for round numbers.

The consortium will be looking for $20-25m back for the clean up of contaminated soil not known about at the start of the project so let's call it $25m back.$310-25 = $285m

You think we'll hear/see much about this $285m?

When will that be exactly... when Labour are in opposition?
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

Liquidated damages takes a level of finesse in documentation of OCD level. This will be interesting to see how it plays out. I cant see it ending without blood.

If it was built using Australian steel at a significantly higher cost the headlines would be claiming millions of dollars "wasted"

So much of that hospital (and Adelaide Oval) has been built using overseas and interstate material and labour and local companies couldn't even get a foot in the door to, at least, submit a tender.
Bit late to be promising to use local stuff when the horse has bolted
