Kris Hanna has dropped behind the Liberal candidate Peta McCrance in Mitchell, but will be favoured by preferences, and should hold his seat, as he has since 1997.

she should hold on but there are still almost 2000 votes yet to be counted.

Last time 1600 people on the roll didn't vote...I expect a similar figure this time so there can't be many votes to come.

Pretty amazing numbers coming out in Mitchell at the moment.

Hanna is running 3rd on first preferences but 1st by 2,800 on 2 party prefered.

On two-party preferred, didn't the Libs win 52% to 48%?

Yeah, yeah ... you know why though, all those dumb f***ers in safe Labor and Liberal seats.

I'm not sure the situation we're currently experiencing in Mitchell has ever happened before though.

All because they discount candidates from the bottom up.

If he's running third, then wouldn't he be excluded from the 2PP vote?

Not yet, as I said, candidates are eliminated from the bottom up, so he's OK (for the moment)

Not sure where you're getting your info from? The ECSA site hasn't declared either yet.

It's also being reported on AdelaideNow but the official Electoral Commission site isn't giving the game away at this stage.

If correct, then Labor have a net loss of 2 seats for 26 out of 47 with 48% of the 2-party preferred vote.

Looks like some major redistributions coming up in 4 years time.

Got to admire Rann for his political acumen. Appointment of Maywald as water minister was a stroke of genius, another party pays the price over the issue of water! There is now a vacancy for an ALP member from a safe seat well away from those directly affected by his decisions. I have a feeling the RAH won't move, like Monarto, the MFP it will be in the dustbin of history, Rann seemed much less enthusiastic about it when interviewed on 5aa a day ago.
