Hopefully as in the Victorian election the Liberals will remove the oxygen for these people by preferencing the ALP over The Greens

Will be very interesting to see what Labor do in this regard, I do wonder for how much longer will Labor sit back and watch the Greens whiteant their margins before deciding that assisting them to get elected and to raise their profile is a good idea. The problem for Labor is that in the immediate sense Greens Preferences can and will win them seats, yet longer term it will likely cost them seats also, at what point do they make a decision. Yet the interesting part is that even if Labor did put them last also, the Greens are still going to preference them anyway over the Liberals, so they can still gain the preference flow anyway!

what you blokes (mick and sojourner) are saying is spot on. I think the problem is compounded by the fact that neither Gillard and her mob or Abbott and the Libs really know how to handle the situation because this sort of thing (threats to the major party dominance) is usually stamped out. The Democrats, Pauline Hansen etc but this time around these loons have been given a toe hold because of many reasons including political correctness and plain incompetence.

Gillard and "her mob" have handled it by going further to the right, and basing election promises on what lobby groups in the suburbs of Western Sydney and South East Melbourne want. Pretty easy this politics game when you've got no back bone, just ask Tony Abbott.

Which of their policies do you consider to be "looney"?

Well she belongs to a party which demands we scrap our power stations...
Well apart from some more generalisations and name calling I am still waiting for Darth Vader (or anyone else) to provide some evidence as to this alleged policy, so I can decide if it is "looney" or not... :!! i-)

What a misjudgement.

The Greens aren't remotely 'the biggest threat to Australia's future". They will never be in a position to form a government and even if they did, political imperatives will decree that any of their more 'extreme' policies never become law.

There is something called a Senate majority also.

If they were by any chance to get a majority in both houses, good luck to them.

That's called democracy.

I'm not sure why Darth & Co get so upset by them It's the same syndrome as going over the top about legal refugees and ignoring the vastly higher number of illegal visa overstayers.

I have met Sarah Hanson-Young, and other Greens, a few times at public meetings over some issues.
At least you can have a rational conversion with the local Mark Parnell, even if you disagree on some issues.

I was speaking to someone who had met Mark Parnell, he said he (Parnell) was a really nice bloke.
