I think that Rudd will survive, but Swan has got to go. He has clearly mislead the Australian people. Do these guys think we're idiots...???

The Howard Government certainly did. Isn't it funny I never heard too many right-wingers calling for heads after the National Textiles scandal involving Howard's brother, children overboard, AWB and that $300m, invading Iraq, WMD, the Regional Rorts scam, that disgusting pamphlet in Lindsay NSW last election and the Haneef affair.

The faux outrage from the Right is pretty galling given the circumstances.

funny how the Honourable Members can lie their arses off in public without any ramifications but any hint of misleading Parliament and it's a capital offence

The last bastion of honour?
Once upon a time a gentleman would not lie in any context..
[And Tom Playford, a non-driver, while Premier of SA, wouldn't even let his family hitch a ride to the city in the car the picked him up, as he saw it as improper to use a government vehicle for any private purpose.]

A pretence to a last bastion of honour as it somehow absolves all other sins (note the c instead of an s! ;) )

Will never see the likes of Sir Tom ever again I'm afraid to say.

He was, Playford nationalised the electric supply company in SA in the late 1940s. You don't expect Libs to nationalise things!!! He also set up Elizabeth and encouraged industrial development in the State. He was an arch conservative with regards gambling, drinking etc. but he believed in honesty and practised it to the nth degree. Apparently he used to give the then young Don Dunstan a lift to Parliament when it was sitting.

As suspected the email was a fake and it's looking like it was a Costello loyalist setting up Turnbull.

Adios, Malcolm.

I don't think so ... Turnbull needs an exit strategy on this one and he better do a better job than MHS or Gozu will have a field day

I think there's faults on both sides with this one. On that basis, neither party would be best going for the jugular - wind the clock back a week (both parties) and get on with it.

Far from 'being corrupt', on the evidence so far, Rudd was being totally truthful.

Will those who got stuck into him on here, now apply the same standards they expected from him to Malcolm Turnbull?

Will they acknowledge they've been totally wrong?

Will they explain why Turnbull shouldn't resign, using the exact argument they used against Rudd?
