The good people of Tasmania never had a problem with Mr Harradine, especially when he rolled over for Mr Howard on the privatisation of telstra. I was told that overnight Telstra offices and linesman schools sprouted up overnight down there.
What benefit did SA get when our much beloved SA Democrat senator Meg Lees "rolled over" for Johnnie on the GST..?
oh well she got what she deserved.

It will be a lot closer that most people think

Labor have to turn around 16 seats IIRC which is not as straight forward a task as some of the media polling makes out

WA looks to remain Liberal heartland - Some of the SA seats looming as very important to the result

However, I feel Rudd will just sneak over the line I think the the nation will decide JH has had enough of a go at it
In between signatures .....

Howard did. He was more than happy to get his senate vote when he was an independent senator and pass the bill for the partial sale of Telstra.

The partial sale of Telstra Paul Keating mooted first but didn't get time to do! I think the ALP would have got it wrong then just as the Libs did - they wouldn't have separated out the infrastructure ownership to avoid monopoly problems either - both lots were short-sighted.

Just kidding - I'm going whoever wins. I just don't know whether to keep my investments here to benefit from the inflation and rising interest rates like I did under Whitlam and Hawke/Keating, or to get them out while the $AU is still valuable against foreign currencies..... :?

That's my biggest concern also - where to keep investments. With our market so strong and high prices justified by earnings and continued future growth potential, I'm concerned about the impact an ALP government with high spending, high inflation and high interest rates all of which they are certain to completely mis-manage of the unthinkable happens.

Australians would be mad to change just for change's sake.

What could be an interesting scenario is if it does turn out to be a hung parliment with Nick Xenephon as a required vote to get legislation through. As stated above Harradine got many benefits for Tasmania when that situation last occured. It would be a good thing to see S.A get some of the same funding bribes!

The people will have their say .I live in a country where you get a vote and am eternally grateful for those who fought and kept it that way .No prizes for guessing my vote but Sunday the sun will come up and I will still be an Aussie and so will my neighbour who may have voted the opposite to me .The people have their say just like your club AGM or Strata Title meeting and the majority get to see things done their way and if you don't like it or if you end up seeing the value you have your say next time too...thats all you can ask for!
