What difference did he make with the bikie gangs? None.

South Australia really needs a political leader with some guts. The place has become a stagnant backwater.

Not when he announces the Olympic Dam expansion.

It's ginormous.

Mate, I believe this one might be the equivalent of many more Olympic Dams, if I've read about it correctly.

Hilarious looking at the Wikipedia Water Flouridation Controversy page and finding these quotes:

Activists on the far right of American politics routinely asserted that fluoridation was part of a far-reaching plot to impose a socialist or communist regime.

Others asserted the existence of a plot by communists and the United Nations to "deplete the brainpower and sap the strength of a generation of American children". Dr. Charles Bett, a prominent anti-fluoridationist, charged that fluoridation was "better THAN USING THE ATOM BOMB because the atom bomb has to be made, has to be transported to the place it is to be set off while POISONOUS FLUORINE has been placed right beside the water supplies by the Americans themselves ready to be dumped into the water mains whenever a Communist desires!" Similarly, a right-wing newsletter, the American Capsule News, claimed that "the Soviet General Staff is very happy about it. Anytime they get ready to strike, and their 5th column takes over, there are tons and tons of this poison "standing by" municipal and military water systems ready to be poured in within 15 minutes."

Rann has never hidden the fact he would like to pass Don Dunstan's record of time in office, and is currently 97 days away from doing so (he would need another 85 more days to become South Australia's second longest serving Premier of all time, passing John Bannon). It will create further problems, however, if he insists on staying this time to do so.

I thought Rann "had" to stay about another nine months (mid 2012) to become Labor's longest serving Premier in SA?

If CK is right and I'd assume he is then that gives a lot of weight to this trying to hang around until Sep/Oct guff, which I had just assumed was a stalling tactic to give him more time to come up with another reason to hang around.

They need to get rid of him ASAP.

Q: Did the Right factions heavyweights meet with you on Friday Mr Rann?

A: I can assure you I didn't speak to anyone from the Right faction on the weekend.

This doesn't sound too flash:

LABOR powerbrokers expect Premier Mike Rann to be gone from office soon after December 6, the day he becomes the party's longest-serving leader.

They are convinced he will go quietly without any need for a partyroom ballot.

"It has been sorted out, don't worry," a senior party source told The Advertiser yesterday.

"These things are never easy but there is an arrangement in place and all the parties will stick to it.

"There won't be any challenge or blood on the floor."
