A speech about a nine-year-old dying in those circumstances wuld move anyone to tears.
Not for a minute would anyone suggest that the Queensland floods were anything less than a monumental tradegy. The loss of life, property, animals- really more than we could comprehend.
If Julian Gillard had been able to thaw out and show real emotion when she was there with those people who have suffered so much, look at Anna Bligh- she was there for those people. But Julia was wooden, stage-managed and came off looking very poor. Perfunctory pats on the back for people who had lost everything simply did not cut it.
How then can you logically explain her sudden flood of human emotion when in front of a gauranteed audience other than a desperate attempt to claw back the approval of all those she disappointed.
