I noticed you forgot to add that there was a swing AWAY from (again) the labor party in Griffith by election ;)

I laughed the the idiot Labor people said it was a slap in the face to Abbott and Newman when there was actually a swing against Labor.
Then again, they've shown they don't understand numbers

Both sides talk shit when they win.

I laughed because I remember right-wingers suggesting Bill Glasson would beat Rudd at the last election and then again saying he would win the seat at this by-election!

well jimmy, you can laugh at those people who said it was a slap in the face to Abbott/Newman but it is, when the betting opened up Bill Glasson was $1.10 and on Saturday it was the labor who started $1.10

so in effect Rudd did his party a favour by quitting when he did as he knew it would give Abbott time to start ******* up especially now workchoices are on the way back in

lol, yeah a second swing away from labor ( 8% margin that a sitting PM had in his own seat ,TWICE ) is good for sure

I think the K Rudd of 07 is still blinding labor supporters ..... =))

That is the core issue.
What they do with finances and running up deficits was why I turned away, eventually, from my Labor upbringing and moved across to the Liberal Party.
I started to have doubts in 1975, but didn't actually join the Liberal Party until 1996.

I've been tempted to move back once or twice, but something always happens to make me not take the final step of voting Labor again.

Betting smetting - what would they know?
Why wasn't there a swing back to Labor then?
Not only did they consolidate the previous swing, but they added to it, so yes, I am laughing at the people who said it was a slap in the face.
It just shows that not all of Australia think they are screwing up - just the people who hope it happens
Workchoices  Surely there's better stuff to hang your hopes on.
There's a very tough budget coming up that you should have some fertile ground to work with, although, we could do a Comrade Weatherill and just continue to send the place broke. I would love to see the Weatherill home budget - I wonder if they live beyond their means!!

swings away from the labor party again does not matter to labor supporters thou?

I am sure if it was a swing away from the LNP, they would all be on this forum saying it is the downfall of tony abbott ;)

there is a by election for Redcliffe in 2 weeks , and I do expect a swing away from the LNP because of the former member and his activities ...

I think saying it is a smack in the face for the Libs is the ultimate spin

If you got a 5% swing back the other way, you'd have something to crow about.
It's a smack in the face for Shorten

A swing to the Libs even though they have been performing terribly and Labor claim its a slap in the face for the Libs
Just shows how bad Labor have been performing if they couldn't grab some of the swing back.
It's just substance over rhetoric

i think people are forgetting that K Rudd had a 8% margin when he was sitting. The last federal election the LNP member reduced that to 2% or something. Very hard to lose a seat with 8% margin from the previous election.

a swing away from whatever party tells the electorate that people are voting against them. I.e., when the Redcliffe By election is held there will be a swing away from the LNP....

If LABOR fans can not see the outcome there, then there is something wrong .. yes, labor won, with a swing against them (TWICE). Not something I would be putting on my resume, but that's me.

well they know how not to lose their money thats for sure. as soon as people start smashing one side of the line, they rapidly change it so that the amount of money coming in on either side is roughly even - thats how these lines work.

so for something to swing from 1.1 on one side to 1.1 on the other shows a significant amount of money (or a significant change in public opinion)

yes there was a swing against, but K-Rudd was one of the most popular PMs in history when he was first voted in in 07, so presumably it would have been with a unusually high margin too. so sucessive swings dont seem that out of the question.

Howard was sacked by his own party (as OL), the Australian people and by the constituents of Bennelong!
