Agree entirely Psyber. I'm always suspicious of anyone that wants to be a politician.

Bob Ellis sums up Labors understanding of the misuse of funs...

http://www.news.com.au/national/bob-ell ... 6360457172

By this train of thought... its ok for a member of parliment to misuse 20 million dollars - including some of hookers because it is only $1 per person in Australia.

The obvious question being if what Thomson says is correct weight, why he did simply not go to the police immediantly - or simply phone the credit card company to report unauthorised transactions on his card and have them reversed? Why refuse to participate in a police investigation if he is both innocent and has information on those that commited the said crimes?

I saw his speech on TV.
It came over as well rehearsed, but unconvincingly and amateurishly over-acted.
(Sure, I could be biased in my perception.)

Steve Pallaras was on the radio this morning saying that he doubted this would ever go to trial in the criminal courts because they'd never get a jury that hadn't heard about it.
The defence would argue this point until it died an unnatural death.
I suppose he could ask for a trial by judge only, but that's if he ever wanted a trial to clear his name O:-)
