He's not pleading guilty with a jail sentence. This would have been negotiated already in a plea deal.

David Speirs has been convicted of the two drug offences he was charged with, and ordered to pay a $9,000 fine and undertake 37.5 hours of community service.

He has admitted that the footage of him snorting coke wasn’t a deepfake and that he had previously taken drugs before and during his tenure as leader of the SA Liberal Party.
