Dunno about tours, but I had a good look around when I was there.
I hate tours but yes you can look around and there's a few touristy things to do.
Heaps of things to look at all in close proximity in Canberra around that area.

I did the AIS tour some years ago and it was great.

Would also highly recommend the War Memorial.

Ha ha, I know which suburb you mean Fysh wyk.

The swear filter is set to take out any workd betting with F and ending with K these days, quite approprite with suburb considering what you can buy or "rent" in that area!

Another word that frustrates people that gets editted out is feed back.

Lizzy - I'd recommend a parliament house tour. Especially at this time when the guide will be able to provide an insight into poliotics during/after an election.

I love Canberra - people say it's boring, but I've had some real good times there.

There's a lovely square where there's heaps of cafes/restaurants and pubs for later on.

Here's one for the swear filter Cockington Green ;). If you don't mind dodgy tourism attraction's that's a good one.

Also, it's a bit out of town, but Lanyon's Homestead is very good - there's an art gallery featuring much of Sydney Nolan's work, including the famous Kelly series.

And of course the War Memorial's very good.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

national museum.........free
ais........as you have mentioned. all ais WNBL matches are free. have a mate's daughter playing for the aust.u/21. next home game 2/3 of nov.
csiro discovery..........entrance fee approx $7.....hands on science labs
national film and sound archive............original film of ned kelly......free
national zoo and aquarium......entrance fee
telstra tower.........panaramic views of the whole of canberra.....$2 fee to go to the top........revolving restaurant.....bloody dear though

there's always the bus tour around canberra. hop on get off as you pay.

now beware when you come here trying to find a pub because there is only about 5 in all canberra BUT there are thousands of clubs where you sign in for the day.
if your looking at dining out the suburb of manuka (pronounced MARN-A-KA) is the lygon st. of canberra.

if you have any other things you want to know give me a PM on when your coming. we might be able to catch up for a drink :D

AIS tour is great used to love going their when i worked in the elite sport system used to be able to go behind closed doors and ewatch the testing and training - super stuff

Old Parliament house is great is you can go into all the old offices - got caught short in the old PMs office, so went into the gents just next to it, as I stod there doing what I had to do I wondered what affairs of state got discussed there by gentlemen who have stood where I stood....

Its amazing walking the halls thinking of who have gone before you...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I WILL NEVER FLY ON A AEROPLANE AGAIN

Massive massive turbulance takin off and arrivin in Adelaide. My mate who has been on 50 flights was shittin himself!!! It was fckkkded!

But anyway Canberra was great. Didnot get to do all that much due to the wedding rigmoral i had to do. Hard work being a best man.

Friday did Parliament house tour, lovved it. will have pics on my myspace soon.

War Memorial was great, spent 4 hours there and only got through WW1, WWII and Tomb of unknown soldier. Missed heaps but was on a tough timeline.

After the wedding at the Brassey in Barton, drunkenlly staggered to Kingston and went to 2 cool pubs there. Cant remember there names, Taxied back to Narrabundah and met a group of 4 girls who were beggin us to swim naked with them! Had to politely decline . Hit the pillow at 5am.

Drove to Belconnen Mall then had a bbq at a house then went home. Missed a lot but i still luvved it

was one of the pubs Mooseheads?

seriously i enjoy Canberra. my uncle lives over there. a few years i went to see the crows play sydney, spent a week in syd, then thought well i'm this close, so i caught a train to Canberra. stayed there for 5 days. saw the war memorial, telstra tower, then went out drinking with the uncle (mooseheads). incredibly hungover the next day. went to old parliment house, and walked into Bob Hawkes office...

and yes thats a snouts jumper on ;)

I'm taking my kiddies on a barrel of laughs excursion to Adel. Parliament House this month, plus the Electoral Commission. If they behave themselves they might get an ice cream.

Great pic JB :)
