Cheers Magic Kiwi! I am sorry, I cannot answer your question in any more detail than what is on that site. I've been reading up on the scientific side of the issue, but there are so many issues related to it that I only knew a few details about the Indonesian palm oil issue before this thread was made. I would also like the planet to be saved for the animals living on it, and not just us. It is hard to put everything in one post, I am long winded as it is, even when I only say one eighth of what I want. Also, if I wrote about everything I fear may happen people would possibly switch off. Basically though, what is going to happen when:
sea levels rise, thus destroying a huge percentage of the Earth's areas for growing food, and flooding an even larger percentage of where we live?
temperatures rise making food production even more difficult?
And throughout history, what does the human race revert to without fail whenever there are not enough places to live and not enough food to eat?
We are more resilient than the majority of species that are big enough for us to see, and if conditions become so harsh we would survive longer than they, but if we somehow lived in harmony with those animals there would be no need to consider any of the greater problems. It is all about living in harmony with this planet, but I am finding people reluctant even to accept a band aid solution at the moment Magic Kiwi. But I accept your solution as more realistic for the long term survival of life as we know it on this planet, and not just a few of the 6 billion people that are now molding the Earth into what they perceive to be their own personal plaything, but will most likely become an oven, within which only the toughest of humans will survive.
