I heard on the 5aa sports show a report about an alleged incident involving an Eastern Park junior being sent off for some reason. On his way from the ground it is alleged he head butted the umpire.
Anyone got anything to report on this?

I think this was against our under 16s, heard something about it last night at the club.
The guy I was speaking to didnt see anything and was only commenting on what he had heard.

Not sure if its true or not as i dont get up there much in football season but if it is true you can trust with Billy Wells in charge at EP the kid will be dealt with appropiatly, harshly but also fairly. Billy Wells would have to be one of the best presidents in amatuer/country sport. Im sure he wont treat this lightly if infact it is correct.

Apparently one of three EP players sent off in the game. Cant blemish the club for one individuals action, EP should maybe have a chat to the side as a whole with not just one bloke letting his team down by being sent off. EP have done great things in the past few years to clear up their reputation and made it to Dvi 1 which is great reward for the people involved in cleaning the place up of a few bad eggs.

Think we may here alot more about this, believe SAPOL are involved now

Yes, and that was clearly shown by last years display at the U18's GF....

Very hard for eastern park to get umpires in any grades now

This is just one of the flow on problems. What action do you take with a junior player who does this? We cannot allow the umpires to be physically molested at any level, so what penalty? Do you stop the player from taking part in the sport at all, a lengthy ban, a penalty for the club? Is it the clubs fault at all? We seem to be writing a lot about Northern clubs and issues throughout the various divisions, but are they any worse than other clubs?

In a nutshell, pretty big supporter riot. Wasnt nice and both clubs were as bad as each other. Given the history between the 2 sides it was bound to happen.....very surprised that it took the brawl before both supporter groups were separated....could see it brewing for about 3 quarters!

Fairly extensive write-up in today's Advertiser. Not good in any grade or league to have this type of thuggery. A ban for life might be the only answer but will it solve the offender's problems? Probably not!

Not the type of publicity Junior Footy or the NEMJFA need, in fact footy in general.

I hope the issues with the player involved are worked out for his own sake and that of others.

Obviously a lengthy ban will be imposed as it should for anyone that interferes with a game official
