'Famous' Country Footballers

I have an ulterior motive with this one.

For my next book I thought I would include a list of country bred footballers who excelled or became famous in another field. Contributions have been a bit slow so I thought I would open this thread to arouse some interest.

Some examples are -:

Rick Darling (Test Cricket) played for Waikerie and Ramco.
Paul Cronin (Dave Sullivan from 'The Sullivan's) played for Mount Barker.
Michael Wright (SA Labor Politician) played for Kadina.
John Fitzgerald (Tennis) played for Cummins Ramblers.

Whilst on this theme, did Rob Kerin ever play for Crystal Brook (or anyone else for that matter)?

I Have a 1980 Crystal Brook premiership photo with John Kerin in the front row as the team runner, so would assume a playing involvement as well.

Mark Goldsworthy aka "Mork from Ork" and sitting member for Kavel - played for Murray Bridge Ramblers in the early 80s.
Unfortunately for Mark, he is a far better politician than a football player. ;)

I would hardly refer a few politicians that played country footy as "Famous"

One I am not sure about is Australian Basketballer Patrick Mills. He spent part of his childhood living in Ceduna but I have yet to find any evidence that he played football there.

Wayne Carey played some senior colts for Mallala while his brother was coaching the A grade, clearly had massive influence on his playing ability and subsequent success...... until he smoked Stevo of course!

Is definitely a massive crows fan so fair chance he played footy somewhere along the way, especially if he wasn't in canberra for a year or two.

Found out yesterday that former Test Cricketer Charles 'Nip' Pellew was captain of Saddleworth FC in the 1920s. This made me think whether Shaun Tait played football in the Hills for someone, possibly Nairne.
