Postby BenchedEagle » Tue Mar 17, 2009 12:25 am

can i get some advice from the experts we have here,

Someone i know had a clearance rejected due to owing their previous SAAFL club money

Unusually no figure was stated on clearance form

This player played 8 games last year in a C grade side without training once, only played coz coach called and pretty much begged him to play.

Was told more than once to not worry about fees coz itl be takin care of! And not once was asked to pay 1c

What is this players rights here? In regards to gettin this clearance through

Probably should've got it writing unfortunately, the SAAFL will more than likely view it as a player who is unfinancial.

DTA - Don't Trust Anybody! Players should always ask for a receipt, membership card or some form of proof of current financial status, otherwise they leave themselves open for clearance rejection with no documented proof. Would have to put it down now to a hard lesson learned.

Know of one country club a few years ago at their end of season annual meeting, noting in their meeting minutes that all subs accounted for and payed, yet rejecting several clearances as unfinancial and then altering their minutes when a copy was requested....Players had to pay up!

I think the bloke is stuffed mate. Paying the subs is the only option, or maybe he can work something out with the club to pay a portion of it, seeing he only played 8 games.

Im pretty sure i know the club in question, and it would be interesting to see if they have made the numerous other players they lost pay monies owing aswell.

Duncs, tell your 'mate' ( ;) ) to speak to the pres out there - he is a good bloke, and im sure he would be willing to work something out.

Maybe the coach should be held accountable, after all he supposedly told the player not to worry about the subs.
Geez a few weeks ago a Footy Director in the SFL was almost hanged for driving 100 kms and shouting a possible recruit a meal without the permission of his club. This has to be worth at least 25 lashes of the cat of 9 tails based on that criteria.

Where's Mr Magoo when you need him? He could sort this out, he's the guy who almost 'hanged' the footy director down south.

Do u think offering to tell the SAAFL that he was played in 2007 after the clearance deadline under another name might give him some bargaining power????????

Absolutely not! Really just a dumb suggestion to say the least. What good do you think that would do?
I might add he probably wouldn't be Robinson Crusoe in that area either.

Should name and shame the club, pathetic!

If the SAAFL apply the rules properly he should be cleared as he is not financially indebted to the club.

Duncs,

Go speak to your mates old coach, as he probably has no idea about this. Then he might speak to the pres about the issues on behalf of your mate!

Otherwise if I see him Thursday night I'll have a word.

Let's be honest here..........no 'C' grade coach or club president is going to pay subs for someone to play 'C' grade. The club would make no money. Tell him to pay for the % of the season he played. It'll barely be the cost of a 6 pack of beer!!
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
