Can anyone give me some advice on how to treat this injury.
Self Diagnosed Grade 2 Adductor Magnus strain. Very tender, feels like someones holding a flame to it at times.
Whats the best way to treat it myself?? And whats the usual damage as far as games missed?

Self diagnosed grade 2 huh? Can I borrow your x-ray glasses Duncs? Unless you heard it go pop you'll never know.

If it is a tear, then 4-5 weeks at least and provided you do the right thing.

What did Jeff say?

FC clearly duncs has followed the rules below:

Grade 1, 2 or 3?

* Groin strains are graded 1, 2, or 3 depending on how bad they are.
* The athlete with a grade 1 strain might feel mild discomfort, possibly a little tenderness at a particular point but no swelling.
* A grade 2 strain might feel more painful with swelling, pain to touch, reduced range of motion and interference with running.
* A grade 3 strain may be very painful, lots of swelling and total inability to run or even walk

Quite possibly he has! :D However I've worked with too many sooks over the years ..to trust ANY self diagnosis  I've seen players almost in tears cos' they're in such pain (ie: one player came off on the stretcher because he thought he'd blown his calf muscle.. wouldn't let me touch it, so sent him straight to sportsmed..turned out to be cramp  )

You just said you made it worse by playing on it and then said you're not going to take the time to fix it.. is this because you think you're the be all and end all of the C grade and they can't possibly win without you?

I yell at people like you :? No sympathy here...

Hitting the piss didn't do you any favours. Probably set you back a week. Did you ice it at all in the first 48 hours?

I always keep a pack of Voltaren Rapid handy during football season to help reduce inflammation.

After 72 hours give the area hot/cold treatment. Begin strength exercises pertinent to the area. Monitor for pain. Hit the exercise bike. If you decide you think you can run, do it only in straight lines to begin with.

See a physio, once for diagnosis and time frame and one more for a follow up when you think you're ready to play again.

There was no torrent of abuse you bloody sook... It just shits me to tears when blokes refuse to do the right thing..

Have you had it checked out yet? Burning means for the best part that it's still bleeding, so guess what? You're still icing! No cream until the burning stops, cream will increase bleeding.

Birthday buddy or not, do the wrong thing and be the subject of my wrath..

Ok, I'll say sorry but only because you're my birthday buddy... don't tell anyone though..
