Women in football

It's the off season, so I thought I'd chuck up a topic about the contribution that women make to football.

It's a man's game on the field, but without them, we'd struggle to get our teams on the field and keep our clubs running off it.

At my club, we have ladies doing all sorts of jobs, including a couple of female trainers.

And I'm sure there are plenty out there, including even some on this site!

Have a whole lot of respect for chicks that hang around because they love the game, despite getting 'used and abused' by blokes with no clue - like some CHICK from the FALCONS who keeps having to put up with not being outwardly appreciated.

I reckon we appreciate them all and just don't show it.

I think the women sometimes get more passionate about the game than the men.
Well, maybe that's coz that's all i can hear cheering for me when i run on the field

East Murray has one of the most vocal female supporters you'll ever hear.
A lovely lady, who continues to cheer for her team throughout the day.
Just when you're thinking she's running out of breath, she gets another cheer out.
As an opposition player, you wonder what the hell's going on. But the East Murray boys love her, cos she's so devoted to them.
I don't think I've ever heard her abuse the opposition either - just cheers her boys on.

after having an female umpire two of our games i can say there pretty much just like male umpires. if u disagree and argue with them they give u bad calls and if u agree wiht them and play the game they look after u. we have a couple at our club that have important roles, but i think its good for the game

My mum was a junior secretary and treasurer and to see the amount of work she did behind the scenes, we've got mums and wives and stuff who clean the club, as well as organising the social side and being on the committee. They all work their ass off, so thanks to all the women involved in local footy.

Women certainly can become very passionate about "their" team.

Played for a State Rep side in Broken hill a while back and while not quite all of B/Hill turned out, it was a reasonable crowd, but the most bone splitting, ear piercing sound was this old battle axe, with the less creative battle cry "C'MON BROKEN HILL" in her thick Slang Drawl, it echoes in my mind today, god bless her!!

And a humble mention to the ladies because it certainly helps some clubs get recruits, if they have some reasonable young ladies about the place! oh! and someone has to cook the Schnitzels!!

And some of you may have seen that footage from Alice Springs, the Biffo from Their GF, the footage clearly shows one frontbum kinghitting another, priceless!!

You're right though... having grown up with country footy all my life there were always Mum's and even Grandma's around the clubs I've been involved in. And now it's a part of my adult life with my sons playing and I am now one of those mums

I have seen a couple in juniors. Pretty sure there is one coaching one of Lockleys sides now, they also had female runner aswell. Havent seen one in seniors though.
