Pretty sure he played Under 19 football for Central District as well, although not 'country' I know...

Correct Phil, from memory he did also have a run at Elizabeth.

Taity played a bit of footy for Nairne-Bremer but his last few years of colts were with Onka Valley.. won the senior colts premiership and the BOG in his last match.

Thanks for adding him to the list Limb.

You would have to think that anyone who goes onto play first class cricket for South Australia would have to give up a football career to do so. Darren Lehmann (Gawler Central), Rick Darling (Waikerie/Ramco), James Smith (Mannum) and Ben Dougall (Ramblers) to name a few. I have also heard that Gary Putland possibly played for someone in the Great Southern league.

I'm not certain, but i think Putland may have had ties to Yankalilla, but i'm not 100% sure.

Thanks KWF.

I just checked out my copy of the Waybacks centenary book and there he is in the under 15s in 1976 and under 17s in 1978. Surprise Surprise he is the biggest kid in both teams.

Still does. Johnny held down full-back in our B grade this year.

Was a great honour/novelty to meet and play alongside the bloke after seeing him in Adelaide doing his thing so many times.

It would appear that Peter O'Brien - Flying Doctors, Neighbours and George Freeman in Underbelly plus many other roles - played in the River Murray League in the late 70's and early 80's but I don't know who for?

It would be Jervois.

As a side note I believe he is ex Sturt player, Daryl Hicks' first cousin.
