Just to clarify, Alice Springs is a long way from Darwin which is the home of the NTFL. The SANFL is seeking a combined team from the NTFL league not the Alice League so this has no bearing on that decision.
Agreed it was a terrible affair, especially as it happened AFTER the game which is ridiculous!
Remember the brawl up in Cairns in 05 (I think), that made the news all over Oz, players are still serving suspensions! This one only made YouTube so the outcomes may not be quite as bad.
Racist remarks are sad and totally uncalled for, you don't have to be a particular colour or creed to get angry and belt someone.

saying a team from NT shouldnt join SANFL because of this is ridiculous. there was a dust up including supporters and players around here years ago. does that mean all S.A SANFL should get the ar$e?

Oi You wrote:No wonder that town has a bad name! Its a shame that country sport suffers because of idiots like that. Western Border blood bath final in '04 was different and not as full on with spectator involvement, but pips this one instead on a brawl, not feralness. It had brawls in the crowd and on the field seperate, not combined which is an absolute disgrace on both their clubs! (P.S. why the hell did Hamilton win that grand final!)

Were you there? they won because they played better footy and wait for it, kicked more goals, it was a bit feral, but no where near that rubbish in Alice.

It's certainly up there,I reckon it beats the massive brawl I saw on the hill at Porties at the SFL grand final in 03,it stopped the game.........Just put your eyes to the sniper at the bottom of the screen in the yellow polo shirt about a minute in,he king hits a player half his size, threatens another and then walks around like nothings happened.............

This from a friend of mine who was there:

Yeah - I had corporate tickets, up in the stands... thank f*ck... I don't support any of the sides up here, but was SO impressed with the game, it was an awesome display of football, the lead changed about 10 time in the last 15 minutes - and it was won in the final 5 seconds... awesome! But the siren blew, and somewhere amidst celebrations, that broke out... it was pretty scary - we could hear people getting kicked and cracked. Now we are putting up with people saying "they started it" and "no, they started it"... it's ridiculous and was a crying shame for the standard of football played, as well as the fair manner in which all the players conducted themselves throughout the game.

All for nothing now, no-one will ever remember how the game was played in the right spirit, but for the all in brawl afterwards, still, these G/F's that end up in biffo, if i'd won the game, i couldn't be less interested in punching on afterwards, i'd rather go and celebrate and if i'd lost, i think i would just slink off the ground in disappointment.

Also Dw, your mate had corporate tickets? Corporate tickets???? wouldn't corporate tickets mean you would be working behind the BBQ or in the beer tent? :D

AFLCA have a tough time promoting footy to the local market. This game could have been a huge advertisement for them. It was truely a magnificent game of football. Instead, it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. A real shame.

I've just seen 4 different footages of it today. Looks real bad for Pioneeers and the inside word is that Pioneers will be suspended for at least 12 months, possibly more.

There has been about 10 arrrests and I believe court proceedings are under way. There are some nervous people around here.

Pioneers stormed out when the tribunal on Monday night when they found out AFLCA were going to allow the you-tube vision to be used as evidence. Last week in the press an official of the parent body (AFLNT) allegedly stated only official video tape evidence can be used in a tribunal under there rules.....

The plot thickens.....

I have heard reports from up there that allegedly someones career is on the line if it goes pear shaped for him and the video evidence aint great....

Does anyone have any footage of the actual game? Apparently it was a ripper of a game right down to the wire.
