Vote the thing out...................Then get ALL your questions answered, then vote it in next year

I think curlyhead should, maybe, do as he preaches and sit back with a scotch and calm down.

There are so many generalisations in his diatribe that it just shows he wasn't there on Monday night, probably hasn't bothered to read anything on the subject, and says that because a few people get on here to ask questions, nobody understands it or knows what they're doing.

You have basically said that the people who attended on Monday night have no idea what they're doing or voted on. If so, you are casting aspersions about 60 odd people who took the time to find out about it and indicated that they supported the system. It was a pretty overwhelming vote considering, according to you, we dont understand it.

I might add, there weren't just delegates there on Monday night. There was a mixture of football club people and there were some very good questions - many of which have have been repeated on here but were answered on the night.

Nobody has said that the system has been finalised - the details of the SAAFL internal system have to be finalised and then put to the clubs for approval which is what you are spruiking, isn't it? Maybe if you'd been there, you would have known that or maybe you just have a hidden agenda ;)

Plus your comment that the "Office Staff and CEO, have limited knowledge by the sounds" By the sounds of what? Have they made a comment somewhere - Please quote them or point us all in the direction of your evidence to support that comment?

Bad use of capital letters......
Repeating your comments and points..........

Not hard to guess who you are....... ;)

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've had a good look at this thread.

My $0.02 - Commonsense has finally prevailed and the clubs did the right thing by voting in the points system.

This will now stop our players being pilfered by other leagues and ensure adequate support from umpires and the SANFL for the foreseeable future and it seems the only people having a bitch about it are those that were opposed to it (Fourth Estate :? )

However (mod hat on) the mods will NOT tolerate ANYBODY using this thread as yet another excuse to have a crack at the league - and to think that it's been said that the VOLUNTEERS that YOU voted onto our exec, that are representing us have no idea about the SAAFL is ludicrous.

When I have a spare minute I'll go through this thread and eventually take out anything I don't see as constructive but let it be known that any future occurances will be automatically deleted and the poster will receive a smack across the head.

The Exec did not write the rules, they did not set the points and will obviously have the summer to iron out the bugs. ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY..so don't blame them for any what seem like discrepencies in the system on the outake.

Rant over.

I was hoping to find some good iPhone APPS here. Stupid title.

On the points system I didn't realise it wasn't in the SAAFL yet as all the other major leagues have embraced it.

From my experience if you have weak juniors or you base your club around unloyal contracted players you WILL be affected.

It just comes down to development & list management.

The SAAFL with the relegation/promotion and now the APPS system will become a very good league.

With all this talk about the points system making it more even, and protecting the league from other leagues from poaching etc. I see that huge player movements are on the cards already, some senior players and other younger but quality players looking for money elsewhere. This happens every year, i understand that it is not a new issue.

I still maintain that to keep people playing football for thier club, as well as getting older players to either play longer or ex league players coming back to thier home club instead of cash grabbing elsewhere. A lure of State Rep Footy would be a huge carrot. With no State of Origin in the big league, and minimal coverage in the SANFL, i think it'd be great to see the best of our comp playing against other leagues around Aust, and i really think that a player with a chance to play state footy would stick around in the Amatuers for longer and reject advances of money elsewhere.

I haven't read the whole 5 pages and don't know all the rules involved here but a couple of questions from Ovingham's perspective here.

1) By the looks we will be getting a decent amount of players this year, all of which weren't involved in any leagues in the past couple as they are from the Woodside Army Barracks, they just played scratchies between themselves and other units. Effectively they will be completely new registrations. I assume they will attract no points? (here's hoping)

2) Considering we will be a part of the C grade competition, will the points rules affect us?

3) If a player from Ovingham left after last season, will they be worth any points? Again being a 1 team side and in the C grade comp, I would assume not...

Interesting call on the GSFL board that because the SAAFL didn't take up the APPS before the prescribed date that players can be picked up for 0 points. Anyone know if that is correct?

NG anyone who hasn't played for 2 years is 0 points. Would expect you would be treated as an A grade side.

GSFL bloke is still adamant that they can recruit 2 players per club from SAAFL for 0 points. Any word from SAAFL or probably more importantly the CFB?

He can be as adamant as he wants, but it isn't going to happen at zero points. Believe me!

I think that's the point his information is from the GSFL. If they have it in place with regards to 2 players or what ever I think that information would have been pertinent to pass on at the info meeting. The CFB might have to step in.

Each league can grant exemptions can't they?

Therefore there is nothing stoping the GSFL saying it's 15 points per club, but will grant you an excemption and allow you 17 if you pick two guys from the SAAFL.

the whole point of SAAFL doing points now is to stop that exactly, so if the GSFL do that the spirit of the whole thing is out the window and i would say stick your apps where the sun dont shine..

isnt this why we have the CFB..to govern over all leagues?
