Affiliated leagues newsletter

Postby Dogwatcher » Thu May 01, 2008 11:02 am

Welcome to the first monthly email update to all Affiliated Leagues and member Clubs

We’ve selected some information from a variety of SANFL departments which we hope is relevant to all, a mix of results and upcoming events / dates to take note of.

STATE LEAGUE
Telstra Country Legends Campaign
· Thanks to all who supported the recent search for the legend campaign through Telstra – the State winner of $5000 will be announced in the coming months, hopefully your Club submitted an entry, because as always, you’ve got to be in it to win it!
· Stage 2 of the campaign kicks off in the next week or so - $25 back to your selected Club through a Telstra phone or internet package purchase.
· Specific program details will be circulated to all Leagues and Clubs shortly, keep an eye out for a great chance to earn some cash for you Club. The more you can promote the program to the community, the more money you could make.

SA Country Championships
· The SA Country Championships hit the Riverland again on the 5th and 6th July 2008.
· Matches will be played in Berri on Saturday 5th and in Barmera on Sunday 6th.
· Zone squads will selected and announced in the coming weeks; media updates will follow these as information becomes available.
· Contact your Regional Director for further information on Squad selection and team arrangements.

Landmark Australian Country Championships
· The Australian Country Championships will be held in Shepparton from the 24th – 27th July.
· Matches originally scheduled to be played in Melbourne will now be played in Shepparton due to the MCC ruling out the option of playing finals at the MCG. This is very disappointing from our perspective but we understand this was a situation that the ACFC was unable to control.
· The 24 players selected to represent their State will be chosen at the State Championships in the Riverland – a fantastic opportunity awaits to showcase the talent on display each week across our regional leagues. Support our team and give your players a chance to do your Club, your League and our State proud.

SA Country - State Coach – Tony Fielke
· Tony Fielke has accepted the challenge of taking our State Country Team to this year’s National Championships.
· Tony currently coaches Imperials in the River Murray League, has coached the Southern Districts Zone Team to 4 victories in the past 5 State Championships and also recently led the Country team to a convincing 39 point win over the SAAFL in the City v Country Challenge on the 29th March.

SA Country - State Team Officials
· With Tony appointed to the position of head coach, we are seeking to fill the other team officials.
· The following positions are vacant and open for application:
o Assistant Coach
o Runner / Fitness / Rehab Coordinator
o Team Manager
o Trainers x 3
· If you, or anyone you know has the required skills and experience to fill any of the above positions, send your expression of interest to Justin Dent, C/O SANFL, PO Box 1 West Lakes SA 5021 or justind@sanfl.com.au. Applications close Friday 23rd May.

SANFL v VFL
· Interstate Football is back at Adelaide Oval on Saturday 31st May.
· Darryl Hart will lead the SANFL against Victoria as we aim to continue our dominance in these matches over the past decade.
· SA Country players – Daniel Havelberg, Daniel Schell, Leigh Westhoff, Jason Torney, Nicholas Wark and Nick Salter are currently in the mix.
· Keep an eye on the Advertiser for squad and final team selection.

Facilities Audit
· Our Development Staff are currently working through an update of the facilities audit conducted last year.
· Please assist this process where possible; the information received and collated gives our Facilities Committee the detail required to accurately plan for future development of facilities across all regional areas.

We hope that this brief summary gives you some relevant information and a few notes for your diary. Any feedback will be most welcome, please let us know what information you would like provided in the next edition of this E-Newsletter.

I will be on annual leave and overseas for the next 3 weeks, returning to work on the 26th May. Please contact Stephanie in my absence, she will answer or find an answer to your queries.
