The assistant coach has the sirname Nelson. He's been mentioned in another thread.

If Matt Stelzer's gone...is that likely?

Then you'd expect his brother Paul and Peter Dempsey to go as well.

AS I said though, if it's true...

Barossa District’s key signings
In their quest for a third straight BL&G football premiership, Barossa District has made three important signings.
Adam Spencer, Ross Christie and Brad James have all resigned for the 2008 season under new coach Rian Nelson.

Representative players, Christie and James have been key members of both flag-winning teams.

Former South East footballer Spencer only had a minor part to play in this year’s victory, due to a hamstring early in the grand final.

Spencer will be a local resident next season as he is moving to Williamstown.

“We see the trio as vital members of the group for 2008 and I am pleased they have committed, Rian Nelson said.

Key forward Daniel Thomas has been confirmed as a playing-assistant coach and is looking forward to his second year in the club’s tri-colours.

“My wife Rebecca and I are extremely happy with the club environment and the league itself,” Thomas explained.

“I see a bright future for Barossa District if they can build on the foundation set by the hard-working committee and continue to produce quality local footballers.

“My duties as assistant coach will involve a helping hand during the pre-season for players living in the metro area, selection throughout the year and a mentor for the younger players who show some ability and willingness to work.

“It is also important for me to contribute at a higher level on the field in 2008. There are so many areas for improvement in my game based on 2007.”

Departing Barossa due to the restructure of the import rule are leading goalkicker runner-up Robbie Brodhurst and dual premiership hard man Mark Polkinghorne who have both signed with Kilburn with last year’s coach Steve O’Connor.

After declining his chance to play in the grand final, David Kellett is believed to have been offered an opportunity to do a pre-season with the Port Adelaide Magpies.

After making two SANFL league appearances for West Adelaide this year, it is hoped 2006 premiership player Heath Commane will also return.

Also from the paper:

Dual Barossa District premiership player and BL&G representative full back, Peter Leslie has followed coach Steve O’Connor to Kilburn in 2008.

Despite being a Williamstown resident, the 2007 Bulldog vice captain signed a deal with the club formally known as the Chicks, last Tuesday night.

“It sounds a bit Irish, to live in Williamstown and play in town, but I do work down in the city,” Leslie said.

“I was looking for a different environment to rekindle my motivation and spirits. I was keen to follow Steve as he is the coach who has brought out the best in my football.”

About to turn 31, Leslie played representative football for the first time under Mark Pitman in the victory at Balhannah in June this year.
