Pity most of the Fleurieu boys are tossers... You are dead right Dogwatcher, Fleurieu have twice as many to pick from then most other zones and yet play blokes who live in the city, so much for it being called the "Country Carnival".
Interesting that the rules allow the city guys to play for Fleurieu yet when it comes to the Outbacks some of them are ineligible coz they live in too close a radius to the capital city....

When they were known as Southern and has all country blokes playing they were good to play against.
With only 7 teams why don't they stop the chest beating and divide into North and South, get the comp back to 8 zones and make it a lot more even.. Something tells me that this won't happen coz the hierachy of Fleurieu couldn't bare for a lowly Upper North or EP to win once in a while....

I only played down there once and I found the Fleurieu boys pretty distasteful and arrogant. The Middies weren't much better.
But then again - I was just a yappy wicketkeeper, so they probably had interesting opinions on me too.

They should run the carnival over a week two. Two weeks is too much these days.

Would make an interesting list of country blokes that have done well in Adelaide in turf or district teams... In two mins I can think of:

Jason Morgan (Kensington - Mt Gambier)
Mark Cleary (Kensington - Mildura)
Ben Johnson (Adelaide - South East?)

Also, the captain of the team of the carnival, Adam Willis, played for Northern Districts at one stage didn't he? I understand he is from Booborowie.

I am sure there are plenty more.

Nah never played DW, highest I ever got to playing in the Meyer Shield which is the Fleurieu association games over the Jan long weekend.

90% the blokes playing in the HCA (the closest comp to the city) are from the Hills so dont know what you are on Scooby....Ryan Hunter who is playing for the Outbacks is from Uraidla which is only 15 k's from the CBD yet his is elligible, so again dont know what you are on about...

The Fleurieu consists of Victor, Murray Bridge and Kanagroo Island...country areas I would have thought????

those grapes are sour over there

Dutchy, Would have thought Reynella, Seaford Rise etc.. weren't country... No probs with guys from the Hills, like Hunter and even Cutter Krollig from Mannum...They are country..
Go old Trav Bahr and his mates definitely aren't from the hills.
I played in Meyer Shield for Murray Towns and we got an absolute flogging by the Southern team which had at least 4 ex-Southern Districts A-graders playing...
They could then play for Fleurieu but not SA country, where's the logic in that...

Well Uraidla would be closed to the GPO than the suburbs above....SOuthern havent won a Meyer shield for many a year so cant be that strong, even one of their clubs Happy Valley joined the HCA...

Anyway what years did you play Meyer Sheild? I played against MUrray Towns in 01/02 (I think) and Steven Sims was playing bowling offies...

Carey - I've got all the daily results at work. I'll look through them tomorrow for you. I think he scored some runs on at least one day.

Mr Pitt had his best game of the carnival against us on the last day, made 50 odd and ran us ragged. Never seen someone so quick between the wickets. Thought we had them covered early but that's cricket! Pitty was also responsible for me not leaving the casino till about 5 in the morning, he was on a mission!!

Fleurieu should be made to split into two sides, Country and Metro! Always suspect when their team gathers on the wednesday of the first week and players meeting each other for the first time, must have a squad of about 30, rotation policy to keep the boys fresh!! Can't believe they whinge about playing at Salisbury coz it's too far to travel. Try driving from EP lads, 7 hours of the most boring saltbush landscape you will ever see! :P
