Must say, credit to Eyre Royals and how they conducted themselves in the circumstances. They were literally the left overs on the weekend as the only side in the club who cant play finals, they elected to field first because they've been getting bowled out cheaply and wanted to get a decent days play in.

The gap between my side and their side is massive, and it hurt them more when one didn't show up and another cracked the sads and left before tea - gave them a player and a sub fielder (I fielded for first half the day, our President Michael Johns the second half) for the day to try and help them, but they bowled quite short and my guys cashed in. Once the club B grade record was in sights we decided stuff it let's have a crack.

Huge amount of respect for the guys in that Eyre Royals side, didn't drop their heads or get disheartened all day, just kept getting the ball, coming back in and trying again. Their captain Karl Dew gave most guys in the side a chance to bowl, and they came off the ground tired but still smiling. We put some drinks on for them after the day and they stuck around for a chat and drink and were in good spirits.

They're probably lucky the ground was very slow and we were playing on our home ground which is pretty big, otherwise would've been 700.

Was it Glen that spat it and left at tea?

Yup. Could see it coming a long way away - he was ok when he was bowling, then when he was given a rest he spent the next half dozen overs standing at fine leg with his arms crossed like a baby and walking to field the ball, before the tea break and took off.

Felt for the Royals lads, was a real kick in their guts - chasing leather as it is and one of their own quits on them.

If Brad Perry's scoring runs, you know the opposition are struggling ;)

He's generally good for 20 or 30 in not many balls haha, but then the lack of fitness combined with thirst for hitting bombs kicks in and he gets out

When he got out the score was 135.. in the 14th over

1 2 1 1 1 1 4 4 6 1 4 2 1 1 1 1 2 6 1 (6 6 3 4 6 1 4 6) 1 4 6 2

In brackets came in consecutive balls across two overs

Must of increased the speed of your home ground 400% if its now only rated very slow. I lost 3 fielders there in 2013 the grass was that long.

Well done to the PDCA U21's on winning the SAMCA Cup Grand Final today against Suburban. A good close game played in good spirits by both teams.
16yo Tyson Richard from Craigmore the standout today with a 5fa.

We played North Pines' B Grade this past fortnight, and they were a great bunch of blokes.

Sparre took 7 scalps for the match, and young Babaie took 6; the latter has a big future in the game if he sticks with it. He's got a somewhat unconventional slinging action, and seems to use it to his advantage.

Sharon, the team's scorer, is also a delightful lady.

The Royals boys then lose outright scoring around 60 runs for the match.
Tough gig for them.

Babaie is only 14 years old too - good wheels for the young kid, if he had a bit of coaching with his bowling action he would be quite dangerous and a bit quicker - every erratic though and puts a lot of stress on his back with his action.

Very tough gig for them indeed, really felt for them, but to their credit they weren't deterred in any way, they still enjoyed themselves, had a bit of banter and was played in good spirits.

Equally tough for us, in that we are one round from finals and it really wasn't the ideal preparation.. but then again i'd rather be on our end than theirs.

Hope the Royals lads can finish off the season with a more competitive performance - they've done it tough this year, and still front up every week.

Those blokes could be worth a story, actually.
It shows great commitment to rock up on the second day after copping that on the first.
