Dont know. Just heard he wasnt playing there this year. I may have heard wrong?

Wistow now $21 on your recommendation ;)
Creeks into $101. Could have a 1/2 capable team from time to time depending on when Fishing, surfing, lawn bowls, golfing and gardening arnt the flavour of the month.

Rd 1 A&EHCA Oct 12th 1 day matches.

Ashbourne play host to Nairne on the turf. Tough task for the Bulls 1st up.
Tip - Nairne by plenty i suspect

Wistow host Strath on "The Hill" which runs notoriously slow early in the season. Expect a fairly low scoring game here which will suit Strath more than Wistow whose batting is not their strong point.
Tip - Strath

Woodside host Hahndorf. Woodsides batting despite the loss of Johns is more consistent than the Magpies who still rely too much on Hassold.
Tip - Woodside comfortably.

Lobethal host Langhorne Creek. Difficult to pick this one. Both teams had a disappointing season last year, both missing the Finals after figuring prominently the year b4. Lobey would be expecting a win against a team coming off 10 consecutive losses but the Creeks may not be a pushover with Johnson and Warren quality players along with some other interesting selections could see this result go either way.
Tip - The team batting 1st to win :? :?

Where's Goldy? If he was in I'd defiantly be backing Creeks but without the Gold Finger I think Lobey may take it out at home.

I think we can expect an upset or two in the first few rounds.

Rd 2 A&EHCA 2 day match Oct 19th - 26th 1.00 pm start
Strath v Hahndorf - At home on the turf , Strath should be too strong. No excuses for Schoey not to score runs now the 4 piece balls are being used on the turf. Will be interesting how they hold up as having a quick glance at them , they look shit. Time will tell.
Tip - Strath

Woodside v Wistow - Expect Woodside batting to be too steady for the Wistow attack in this one .
Tip - Woodside

Nairne v Lobethal - Nairne the logical pick here. Complacency the only danger for them.
Tip - Nairne.

Langhorne Creek v Ashbourne - Hard to pick as depends on selections for both teams. Creeks will course a few headaches for teams this year at certain times but may struggle this week. 5 changes from last weeks team with a lot of unknown quality about about a few of the replacements will keep the punters guessing here. Creeks will be relying on Johnson to repeat his blazing 139 against them last year after missing out last week whilst Ashbournes hopes may rest on the shoulders of the champion spinner Fowlston .
Tip - Ashbourne but hopefully im wrong.

A2 Woodside 2/295 dec Macclesfield 0/30 some real class batsmen in this side for A2 cricket together with poor bowling and fielding . some big sixes and a lightning outfield should make for an interesting chase next week.

Looks like Woodsides 'A' Grade could've done with some of those CLASS batsmen in their A2s Saturday ? Could be a touch embarrassing if the A2s get rolled after declaring.

Bit quiet on here of late "jackpot" given up on the year already?
Nairne losing to lobethal definitely wasn't expected, is the comp going to be tighter at the top this year or nairne got a few players out?
Heard mt barker have pulled a team out only fielding two teams what a disgrace for a huge town. any other clubs pulled teams out?
Also is the rumour true that everyones favourite player mt barkers Wayne "buck tooth" Buckland celebrated a 100 on the weekend that wasn't to be. After thinking he had hit a 100 got out next ball, then realized someone had stuffed the book up & he made 90 instead
An 11 year old fill in for strath d grade got 5 wickets v woodside on the weekend, great effort against men probably four times his age.

Nah, havent given up. Could be another tough year for the Creeks but im sure a few wins are not far away hopefully, putting a end to the ever increasing losing streak that currently stands at 12. Having used 18 players in the first 2 matches isnt ideal but considering we only had 6 players lined up as little as a week before the start of the season and 2 of those have since left, we've done well to fill a side.
Disappointing re Mt Barker pulling a side out but not surprising as usually 1 club does it most years at the last minute or after the season has started. These days it's a nightmare for clubs to work out team nominations with any surety.
Lobey definitely a BIG upset over Nairne who do show signs of vulnerability at times despite their depth of talent.
Hahndorf also a mild surprise over Strath whilst Woodside fell in over Wistow despite a poor batting effort on the 1st day. Ashbourne easily over the Creeks who failed to post a competitive total.
Any early thoughts on the 4 piece ball?
Didnt see one ball swing an inch at the Creek.
Schoey out LBW at Strath so business as usual there.

This weeks matches.
Wistow v Creeks at Wistow. Wistow clear faves but ins and outs for both sides could play a role in determining the result.
Ashbourne v Woodside on the turf. Woodside toooo good, simple as that.
Lobey host Strath. Big game for both teams even this early in the season. Key for Strath is to get Hackett early. Tip - Strath by a whisker.
Hahndorf home to Nairne. Nairne will start fave in every game they play so obvious tip here tho they are certainly beatable as shown by Lobey.

3 rounds into TVCA. Only one winless team, while Palmer have made the early running, knocking off both of last year’s grand finalists.

Palmer (44)- Good signs given Rathjen yet to have major impact. Plenty of juniors coming through.
Gumeracha (43)- The best batting line up in the comp. Lost by 2 runs to the Bears.
Cambrai (43)- Undefeated after 3 games at home. Good challenge at Gum this week.
Paracombe (23)- Couple of close losses followed by a win.
Birdwood (21)- Opening round win soured by outright loss to Gum.
Lenswood (21)- Terrible opening to season before win against EV with just 1 ball to spare.
Mt Torrens (20)- An unlikely win against EV the highlight of their year so far.
Eden Valley (11)- 3 games that they probably feel they should have won.

In the B’s, the reformed Mt Pleasant/Springton have had 4 very comfortable wins. Expect Gumeracha to be their main challenger.

Reports from Ashbourne last weekend V Woodside were that the ball was moving around quite a bit, mostly off the deck but also a bit through the air. Nothing like the swing of a 2 piece though.

Hope Wistow can remember to mow their grass this week unlike last year when we turned up to something that resembled a silage paddock

Congratulations to straths Steven Schofield hitting a very workmanlike 100 today v Nairne at strath. Strath were in trouble early losing 4 early wickets thanks to the tight bowling of tait who at one stage had 3/17 off 15 overs. Ben cousins & Schoe dug deep & put on a 150 odd run partnership. Strath made a competitive 7/239. Nairne bowled tight all day but wouldn't be happy dropping Schoe on 42 & Ben cousins on zero (78 runs). Will make for a tight run chase next week. Nairne the last few weeks have spent a fair bit of time in the field which doesn't happen often, having to chase scores over 200 three weeks in a row.
Any other results today?
Hope you fielded a stronger team this week "jackpot"? No offence but the creeks team on paper is looking like it is being picked out from blokes at the pub on a Friday night. I'm sure a few teams in the a2s would knock em off at the moment!

Cant disagree with you there.
Credit to the guys who are playing to put there hand up to help out.
Certainly the toughest period i've seen the club go through in regards to filling an 'A' Grade side in the last 30 years.
Was always going to be a tough challenge for us this year, we knew that but seriously could not have imagined the number of setbacks for us since putting a VERY competitive team on the field in Round 1. It's gonna be huge challenge week by week just to fill a team let alone worry about any quality about it especially with a lack of support from our 2nd side which contains quite a bit of experience and whilst they may not be capable of consistent performances at 'A' Grade level anymore would provide sterner resistance than some of the guys who with respect and you are right, basically out of the pub.
There are 6 clubs who find it all too hard to fill an 'A' Grade team and some do have genuine cases not to but Langhorne Creek will always do it's utmost to provide a competitive 'A' Grade and dropping down to a lower Grade would be an absolute last resort. We are still hopeful of putting some very competitive teams on the park in coming months and determined to build on that in future years.
Woodside 7/282 Dec (54 overs) Johnston 89, Medlow 77, Johnson 4/67
L.Creek 2/26 (16 overs) Johnson 8 (out) Galvin 2/12 (8)

Any truth to the story that in the TTG v Glenelg match the gullies bowlers actually created 16 chances for wickets on the weekend but only 5 went in the book due to 11 grassed catches

Could be a big week for the fines master

Halfway point of the TVCA season:

Gumeracha (100) A couple of 300+ scores in recent rounds. Strongest depth in the comp.
Palmer (96) Continue to win without major contribution from Rathjen. Undefeated.
Paracombe (88) Two outright wins sees them back into contention after slow start.
Cambrai (64) Solid start, but lack the depth of the top 3.
Birdwood (53) Three wins a huge improvement on the past 6-8 years.
Lenswood (31) Batting fade outs and lack of depth crippling
Mt Torrens (29) Struggling to post competitive totals.
Eden Valley (20) Their early season competitiveness has eluded them of late

Overall I’d say the standard of the comp has fallen this season. The top 4 wont change, and the bottom 3 clubs have dropped away considerably from last season. 3 of the 4 games on Saturday were very one sided, outright results.

In the B’s Mt Pleasant/Springton still undefeated and would be short-priced favourites to win it.

Well the Creeks are $1.01 to rack up their 16th consecutive loss in 'A' Grade less than 2 years after blowing a flag in a Grand Final at Nairne. Does anyone think they will win a game this season ? Their best chance will be against Ashbourne in the Jan 4th 1 dayer id think. Is there any other club (Milang, Finniss, Echunga, Macclesfield, Bremer/Callington or Mt Barker) that would realistically have there eye on taking the Creeks spot in 'A' Grade next year ? Couldnt see it happening so credit to the Creeks despite the difficulties they've had this year for having a crack. Will be interesting if they pull out next season as to what happens. Would be unfortunate if it happened because not seeing pretty well the best ground in the Association used for 'A' Grade cricket would be a waste.
