Don't walk
There are times when you are given not out when you should be out.
There are also times when you are given out when you shouldn't have been.
You have to take the later on the chin and get on with it, it'll all balance out in the end.

Personally walk, but I bat 9, 10, 11, so it isn't exactly ending a match winning innings...

It depends on the situation and grade you are playing. If in the lower grades when you are being umpired by team mates, some of whom are younger blokes fresh out of colts, I will always walk. I don't like putting them in the position where they maybe accused of cheating even if it is an honest mistake.
When playing higher grades with paid umpires (who in GSCA the players pay) let them earn their money, especially as they don't give refunds when they fire you when your not out! Having said that, my nicks always seem to be big ones so I'm often already walking when the finger goes up! Its often better for the team when I am back in the pavilion!

Paid umps = don't walk
Teammates umpiring = walk, unless of course you play for Goodwood, are 9 wickets down and need two runs to win. Then you turn what was a good game played in great spirits by all into a total farce.

Totally agree with this yesterday while batting with a young lad umpiring i nearly walked for an lbw hit on the full just shuffling on the crease looked up at the lad and was just a nod from me a nod from him and i was on my way .

Is everyone joking. one simple answer. DONT WALK. umpires get paid to stick there finger up or down and make enough stuff ups as is, so if lucky enough to get away with one STAY THERE

I think many peoples reasoning for walking is to not put pressure on team mates at the other end who are umpiring, and they are definitely not getting paid.

Official umpire = dont walk, too many times you get the rough end of the pineapple.
Unofficial umpire = walk. Dont put pressure on team mates.

We had a team mate that we ued to cringe about if he walked out to umpire, if the ball hit the pad it was LBW regardless. I can remember umpiring at square leg when he gave one of our team mates out who was at least 1.5 m out of his crease and the ball hit the top of the knee roll
