Best & worst grounds to play on

For me, always liked playing at Goodwood Oval - wickets were always well prepared, and watching the game from the grandstand is a bonus.

Also liked playing at Marion due to the clubrooms. And recently Ingle Farm have pretty good after game facilities.

Kingswood Oval is great fun.
Clubrooms do the job and it's just a short jab to put the spinner back over his head for 6.

Does get a bit confusing with the lightpole at long on though. ;)

Eastern Park is a batsmens paradise.

Short square boundaries, runs really fast and has massive pot holes which make it a fielders nightmare.

Brahma Lodges Run ups are shockin at the moment. not so bad from the club rooms end (not good however) but the far end is a disgrace. sorry any boys from brahma who read this but u need to do somethin about it. its like running in on glenelg beach... surely if you boys r serious about producing quality turf wickets next season ya have to sort out ur ground n get ur hard wicket right first

I rarely missed out on the road that is Adelaide #2, so that is my fave. Caterer was always a good place to play, and it would be remiss of me not to mention Walkerville Oval. Great setting, and a great place to watch cricket from the Clubrooms balcony. 8)

Agree with the Wizard, Uni grounds are great, Park 10 #2 is great for a slap and tickle.

If you want a batsman's paradise, ESO (Echunga second/small oval) is brilliant!
True bounce on a hard wicket. 54m from the bowlers stumps to the fence. 36m on the square boundaries.
Tough ground to run twos on though! haha

Worst ground in the grade comp by far is Pertaringa.
I've heard they've put some money into it but last time I played there the square was basically mud and the bowlers run ups sand.

Best = Parkinson, Woodville, University.

Regarding the run ups at Brahma, Moving to turf will fix it, with the best part of 6 months off the oval will be a blessing. The grass will take and over grow the sand, possibly the sand dug out and something more solid laid anyway.

Best Ovals, Adelaide #2, Salisbury Oval, Kensington's 2 pitches, Cain reserve, Hectorvile oval, Goodwood oval's. Woodville oval and St. Claire, all for personal reasons obvioulsy.

I take it you're a batsman.

Another batsman hey, Salisbury Oval was the deadest pitch I ever bowled on.

Being a batsman does influence my choices as Lightning suggests. My favourite grounds are a toss up between Park 25 No 1, Adelaide No 2, and Henley Oval. University was pretty damn good too. All had great tracks where the ball came on to the bat nicely, and had smooth & quick outfields. I would say Park 25 if i had to pick one. Haven't played on any of those grounds for a few years but in late 90's early 00's they were great.

In the ATCA Brighton Oval is the best I have played on by a street. The only problem is later in the year the outfield starts to thicken up & it becomes really slow. And it doesn't have the pace/bounce of the favourites I listed above, but I'd play there anyday! It's always a bit cooler down there too on the really hot days.

Goodwood used to be fantastic but is prepared by the council now & it really has gone downhill. Payneham's haven't been as great the past couple of years either. I think the lack of water has really hit many grounds hard & those two are prime examples.

Best setting probably Kensington's Parkinson Oval (best afternoon tea there too!)

Worst grounds - Rosewater was my least favourite venue, it was a stinker in all respects. Kings Reserve had a great pitch but that was about it - it was an awful place field on & to sit on the sidelines, particularly on hot days. The journey to Argana Park isn't one I'd ever want to repeat either.

Nahh, not a batter but made runs at those pitches and also taken wickets, if you bend your back you get some reward early on all of those pitches!
