If as expected Cove leave the comp, what do you lot think the future is ?
Will we soldier on with limited teams or will clubs go their seperate ways ?
Last season a pact was made to stick together and try and build the comp.
Clearly, one of these clubs reneged on this and clubs are wondering what the future holds.

To be honest, there are still several unanswered questions.
How did the club come to the conclusion that it wanted to leave the SCA ?
Was it AGM, presso night, drunken bbq ?

If it was at an AGM, why wasn't it communicated to the SCA committee ?
If it wasn't at an AGM, then the constitution of the club mustn't exist.

Why does the club feel it needs to leave ?
Why wasn't a COve representative at the last SCA meeting ? to discuss this very matter

In this "pact" what was set out tot he clubs and the assoc to fix the problem, or was this so called pact to just simply as you put it, stick together. If it was agreed that the clubs would just "stick together" that doesn't seem like much of a business model to me. Now if there was a plan put in place, other than 'just get more cricketers playing' what was it?

Its one thing to say lets bolster the numbers, but another thing to set out a plan how to do it.

If just a simple "pact" has occured, and no detail on how to fix the problem, or any clear sign that sticking together is going to fix the problem, then can you really blame a club from finding more stable ground to build on?

I'm going to make a pact with my parter to have a million dollars in the bank. But i'm not going to set a plan on how to do it. Sounds crazy doesn't it.

In recent times ICC and Hamilton have joined lower grades and it's hoped Flaggies will come up to A GRade.
If Cove want to leave, that's their perogative, just let the association know!

Leaving a ship you put holes in would be more like it.

The possible exit of Cove has galvinised the SCA in a way I have not seen in the past and to see past players and administrators get on board with a vision and strategic planning over the next 10 years the future of cricket in the south will have an exciting future in the next ten and many more after that.

They can't lett he asociation know until they have been given the green light in a new association.

Its like quitting a job for another job you havent got yet.

Over the past 10 years the committee have invited ICC Sharks, Woodcroft, Valleys etc into the competition.
It hasn't worked yet but they've tried.
Hamilton and internationals are new clubs but don't have A Grade teams, hopefully they do in the future.

3 clubs left because of various decisions and attitudes made by some Cove players and officials in the early 90's.

This is fact and has come from committee members from those teams at the time.
That doesn't mean I think it's right or agree with the decision, just what I've been told.

I'll give you an example - 1989 one day final a fight breaks out between a cove player and an Aldinga player,who I will not name, both as much in the wrong as each other.
Cove player gets suspended sentence, Aldinga player gets LIFE ban later reduced to 7 or 10 years I think.
A Cove committee member was president of the association at the time.
I saw the incident and I can comment on the fact that both players were as bad as each other on the day.

Its all Cove's fault.

Its so clear now.

The rest of the comp should shout with glee now that the nasty and evil Cove club get banished down the hill.

Any previous misdemeanors for the Aldinga player that may have contributed to the differing sentences?
I do recall a couple of Aldinga bowlers back about that time that used to push the laws to the limit with their aggression !!!
Maybe one "Reaped" his reward that day???

I wouldn't expect anyone from Cove to accept any responsibility so no surprise with that comment.
It's not all Cove's fault, I don't think anyone is saying that, but they did contribute in a big way in the downfall of numbers.
