gday all

I am just doing a bit of research on heat policies and would appreciate if posters could put up there temperature cut off and the association they are from. Also if you have any variations in your policy that you think are a good thing.
Does anyone have something in their policy that covers the days leading up to the game?

If it is forecast 40 or above our association is cancelled.

Nothing regarding lead up temperatures altho it has been discussed on here after last weeks heat wave!!

SA Churches and Community Cricket Association is 40.
It started of being 40, but the last few years was dropped to 38, but at the start of the season it was returned to 40 to bring it in line with the other Hard Wicket Associations in this state.

PDCA: If the Friday night 6pm news predicts it is going to be 40 or more in Elizabeth for the Saturday, the days play is cancelled, finals included.
they have also cancelled junior games when there has been a week of extreme heat, they usually decide this by Thursday at the latest.

so why does ATCA make it so technical then??

anyone who plays for a premiership is serious... so why have a policy at all then if its that serious??

That forecast is the one advertised at 9a.m. on the Saturday morning, not the friday night one as in the PDCA.

Good question and thats why i am happy with the ASCA's heat policy.

Adelaide, which is pretty crazy, there have been days when its 40 in town and no more than 33 up there...

i thought that was the case. It does seem a little odd. Does it matter if it is 50 degrees in Adelaide, what effect does that have on a game in the hills????????. A little puzzling.

Murray Towns if the ABC news on Friday night says it will be 40 or above in Murray Bridge the cricket is cancelled. This is then scrapped in finals.

Why is that the case? So its safe to play in 40 degree heat in finals but not throughout the year?

Great Southern's policy is a hotly debated topic amongst the players (excuse the pun). 38 degrees in Victor Harbor is the cut-off point for the minor round. Victor hitting 38 degrees is as rare as hen's teeth. If its 30-35 in Victor it usually means places like Willunga, McLaren Vale/Flat, Aldinga etc. are more like 40. However, in the program it states that if the temp for Noarlunga is 38 or above the executive has the option to intervene and call games off, reduce overs, start the game earlier etc. It must be such a hard policy for the Association to implement due to the differences in weather from venue to venue in this area. The policy as copied from the playing conditions section of the GSCA myCricket website:-

24. HOT WEATHER POLICY
1. In minor round matches, due to excessive heat (38C and above) all senior cricket is cancelled for the day.
2. The forecast temperature on the Friday evening TV news for Victor Harbor is to be used as the guide.
3. Should the forecast temperature for Noarlunga (on the Friday evening TV news) be 38C or above, any or all of the options detailed in subclause 4 below may be applied by the executive, including, but not limited to reducing the length of the match.
4. In finals matches, any or all of the following may be adopted in the event of excessive heat:
i. Start earlier to avoid the hottest part of the day
ii. Schedule additional drinks breaks
iii. Rotate players at fine leg so that they may have extra drinks between breaks
iv. Allow players to interchange on and off the field without restriction between overs
v. Reduce the length of the match
vi. Cancel the match
5. The Association secretary shall maintain regular contact with the Bureau of Meteorology in the days leading up to any finals where the weather predictions indicate the possibility of excessive heat. He shall then make decisions regarding the implementation of clause 3 in consultation with the president and vice-president.

I know it's an absolutely stupid rule but our club did not attend the AGM (forgot about it) so we cannot say anything.

The reason it was brought in is that 2 years a go in the Semi Final it was 39 on the Saturday and 41 on the Sunday, so the teams got to play the first day but called off the second day so the two top teams went straight into the GF. I thought this was fair enough they finished 1st and 2nd and that was one of the benefits of doing so. But the teams that finished 3rd and 4th were not happy and had a big sook about it saying they should play no matter what so that is what was brought up in the AGM and passed. We couldn't believe we play under 1 rule all season and then it changes come finals (STUPID STUPID STUPID). But as I said our club did not attend that AGM so we cannot say anything.
