Woodville tend to look after their country kids well, no shocks they manage to keep most of them unlike some clubs

Then again rival clubs actively coerce players from other country zones and are allowed to get away with it.......

With the Results -

Uni seem to cruise to 200 only 2 down and win
Adelaide 2/160 chasing 200 odd with plenty of overs and choked
West Torrens with a shocker all out 98 guessing Spencer Johnson 'rested' by SACA?

Gee wizz who would've picked last years cellar dwellers both getting a win round one and West Torrens losing by such a big margin! Gonna be an interesting year ahead I reckon.

Port Adelaide's women's structure has fallen in a heap, very sad and disappointing.

What's happened? I saw Sam Betts was playing elsewhere

edit - just had a look. Port all out for 39. Southerns all out for 28

Both clubs have lost players. Not great for the competition if there are only four decent teams and the other two are struggling.

A mass exodus from the Port, they had such a good structure for the last few seasons, could match it with anyone, was strong in developing players.

A clash of heads via the committee seems to be the root cause with a couple of key stakeholders deciding to quit and those that had faith in them aren't playing any more.

Yeah, Bettsy incidentally took a wicket on the first ball of the season against her former club, she has been Port through and through since I've known her, sad times.

Port and Southern will face some thumpings.......................if they remain in Grade 1, and if they have enough players interested by Christmas.

It is, their number 11 can bat too, they were already around the mark and adding Betts to their arsenal makes them probably the strongest, it wouldn't surprise me if Hannah Perry returns during the season either.

Port got bowled out for 9 in the women's B Grade. Ouch.

Heard they forfeited their U14 Whites too. Not sure about U16 Whites.

Yeah, Jets won the game in 5 balls, all over in about 35 minutes.

It is sad about their juniors, I've seen their trainings and they are well structured with senior players out there doing plenty of one on one work with the kids.

If PT A did forfeit the 14 W's, I wonder who in the Pt A executive will blame now, seeing as though they had been working with SACA and the local schools, to get kids playing for them. Hope they didn't have to forfeit.
4-6 weeks ago they had enough to fill four sides when asked to provided numbers.

After posting a question regarding something trivial on the Port Adelaide womens facebook page I had a phone call from Dean Sayers asking what it was pertaining to.

I thought it was excellent of him to track down my number and follow up my comment to ask me of my concerns out there this season, he assures me that there is light at the end of the tunnel, just have a few tough weeks to get through.

That’s excellent of him. I really hope it does work out and quickly. Only round one and sometimes you do get one sided results

Yep, on a positive note, there are still 3 more weeks of T20 to get through before hitting the 50 over stuff, if they can ride the waves for these games and then things should look up for the real stuff.

I haven't looked thorough enough at the Southern Stars and Scorpion schedules to see how often Amanda Wellington is available, I can't see her playing too many games pre-Christmas.
