They are definately different and take a while to get used to, but looking at some of the scores from the Shoey pitch this year it looks like once a batsman is in its is a pretty easy surface on which to bat on.
From what ive heard the Council is looking at having all pitches in the Onkaparinga area covered with the same matting as they become due for relaying.
Happy Valley's is supposed to be the worst of the lot though !

Im presuming they have the soft spongy pitch like Happy Valley?
played there a couple of years back and it was a bit like a turf deck, bowl too short and it sits up, bowl full and it darts around off the seam
When they have the preseason footy there I believe they dont cover it?
looking at some of the scores at Happy Valley this year if you make more than 150 you doing well

i have played on noarlunga and kangies and i think these types of pitches are good for the game they provide the bowler with movement off the seam and a variable bounce rather then just running in and bowling the exact same ball every time its not the pitch that is slippery its the paint on the crease maybe they just need to try a different paint that is less slippery .

From discussions that I have had with some lads re the new pitch Deep Heats comments are spot on. Also there have been some very good scores at the Shoe so it cant be to bad?
I know Trav is not a big fan but mate stop dropping them in short or is the old age taking toll?
As for the crease surley there is a non slip paint? S/R also have a similar pitch how does there crease go
On a positive, not having to drag mats out is gold.

I dont kno bout the paint because i bowl behind the crease to avoid the no ball and i still slip right up to the line
the s/r pitch is a bit different to the shoes and kangys pitch the run ups there help aswell cause u dont carry any dirt under your feet which causes you to slip.

Seaford Rise's pitch is covered with "normal" matting glued down to the pitch so its just like playing on every other ground.
The problem with bowlers slipping is the artifical grass compacts and is pushed in the same direction so the bowler cant get any grip from his shoes when he bowls thats what causes the sliding, Suprised nobody has done a knee yet from the slipping some of the quicker lads get !

we ahve had stick down mats for years and they are great, the problems may arise from the length of the grass that is used. you are able to get a longer type and it is supposed to be like playing on turf.

i have no problems bowling on them and i bowl flat out and dont slip but i hate batting on them very hard to drive on them shoes and kangies the grass is to long and spongy and narrow at seaford they are just bigger mats glued down which works very well
