Does your club have a Major Sponsor or sponsors? If so what do you give them in return for your sponsorship and how much do you get.

At the Western Youth Centre we have a Major Sponsor that provides us with meal vouchers for the best player in each grade each game, a members draw each week and also a significant cash donation. In return we have our players and partners/friends/family go back there on all saturday nights and some on thursdays as well as having any club functions there. We also have another 4 or so sponsors which we advertise on our club shirts and on a 'sponsors' board at our home games. With the increasing costs of running a cricket club the sponsorship we receive really helps us keep our subscription fees($100) as low as possible.

I would be interested to hear as to what others clubs have in the way of sponsorship deals and who they are with.

Those subs are very low. How you keep them there I dont know.

I am qualified to answer this question as I am treasurer for my club.

We have 2 major sponsors, one of htem is a hotel and we have a similar situation there to you. The other is an entity that is a major force for us and is a major difference. We need to have them on shirts, invite them to major club functions etc. We will do virtually anythign for these sponsors as without our club would not exist.

We also have a series of player sponsors etc and one of our sides gets most of that side sponsored by a group aswell (well they did last year not sure about this year) and it makes a difference. Player sponsors are the key. How to keep them interested and as though their money is being spent to benefit them is a different manner and hte hardest part of attracting sponsors. There are onl so many sponsors we can put on a shirt and only so many functions we can invite them to. This is what we need to get better at.

Our subs are around $300 if I remember but this year we are getting a shirt with it. We cannot viably keep them any lower, how you do $100 I have no idea.

We hold our fair share of fundraising functions and we also deliver phonebooks which brings in around 7k a year. The $100 is for those who don't assist with the phonebooks for those who do they are only $75. I am not sure of the cost associated with ATCA but i am guessing that the ASCA are a little cheaper that may have some impact on the subs. We don't have any player sponsors as yet but it is certainly something that we are looking at in the near future.

It is a good idea Booney it just sucks when you are the one delivering them to the door not the driver   . But as Booney does point out it can be difficult to to get enough help to make the process as easy as it can be. It is a fair workload but 7k is well worth it. We are lucky that we have had the same area for 10 years now and have some people with flexible working arrangements/retirees that can deliver to the businesses during the week.

Allmac are the people that you need to contact to get an area. They may even have a few yellow page areas left if you contact them soon as they start next weekend.

Not to mention all of the businesses that require them aswell, I had to take two days off of work to get all of ours done when we put our hand up. You need at least 10 cars with trailers and many people to work a couple of full sundays. The money is good, prick of a job though.

What are do you do then Ron? It must be a big one or you do more than 1. If we had the people to do more we would but it would just be putting too much on the people who already do heaps.
