wow that is a bloody good effort.

We have bloke who played about 330. Out of those i think 327 were in the A's. He played his first 3 games in the b's and never played b's again. Was playing A's until he was 48 i think.

How old is your 400th gamer then? He must be near 60.

Wow that is an awesome record. He must have had a very accommodating wife  to play 534 consecutive games, that is a lot of saturdays away from home .

It always used to piss me off when he said if he didn't care if the lower grades ever won a flag and it was all about the A's. While I could see his point of view to some extent I was always of the belief that if you're wearing a yellow collar you get behind em no matter what the level. It takes more than just superstars and club legends to make a cricket club. Still, a fine career from a man who did not take failure lightly.

No matter what club you are talking about the same applies. It is about the whole club not just the A grade. Every flag is a great achievement no matter what grade. Not everyone can play A grade and for every bloke that thinks their A grade is all that matters they forget the fact that unless they are playing Test cricket there are a lot better players than them around. Every grade is as significant as the next IMHO.

Thats Smithy for you REB you know him as well as i do and you are right he did not take failure to well. He did also captain 11 premierships and played in another 4 i think so he also didn't have to take it too well because they won so bloody often. Which i guess made losing even harder.
