Bradman Medal

Should be a great night tonight, with the SACA presenting Bradman medals to all who won it when it was not the Bradman Medal but the District Cricketer of the Year. Will even see the late and great Hookesy's wife, Robin, come to it to receive one on behalf of David posthumously. My tip is the obvious one, Chadd Sayers, but will be great to be there with the Eagles boys. Anyone else going to it?

Would have thought Huitema had a real show. Took a stack of wickets late in the season and made reasonable amount of runs.

Would love to know the criteria upon which captains and coaches make their assessment of Coach of the Year.
I will not begrudge Dean Sayers his great effort in getting Woodville into the A Grade Final, however I believe the Club Senior Coach needs to be assessed on the performance of all four Senior Grades he is responsible for.
Grant Wyman managed to get all four of his sides into the Grand Final. They also won the Club Championship for the third year of the past four. the Under 17's for the second year in a row and Under 14 Red. Three of four junior sides made the finals.
Woodville only made the finals in one grade, finishing in the bottom half in two of the four.

I think that the lower grades count for very little if not nothing at all. Woodville have risen from the foot of the table under Sayers and now that the A's are in order then his next task is to raise the lower grades up also.

Heater, that is perhaps why West Torrens are a dominant club at the moment. We consider all of our four grades important, as we do every player who represents the club. Where would Woodville's A Grade be without all their Northern Territory recruits? Perhaps it is their recruiting officer who should be recognised more than their coach?

I also believe that the key to long-term success is to build on your juniors first. Otherwise, once you lose your top layer, what gives your club strength?

well their I would hazard a guess that the recruiting manager would be the senior coach himself. I know for a fact that he was contacting a new recruit this season during last years finals series and the player was still involved in finals. The former coach of said recruit contacted Dean and asked for him to not approach his players still involved in finals. An apology was made and Dean waited until the end of the season to continue the discussions.

Understood, but I think that a former Woodville player now living in Darwin has a lot more to do with the recruits from there.
