You don't ban clubs for one off incidents though (assuming it is only a one off at this point). Ban the individuals, let the club field a side without them.

No place in anything for that, not just cricket.

And what was the Para Hills captain doing all tarted up? Should have been in his whites.

agreed but the gepps cross team apaprently played a northern districts batsman who made over hafl there 300 plus score..... he would be un available this week due to grade cricket finals but if the heat policy is actioned and teh jets lost he would be able to play in the one dayer....

this raises another issue should grade cricketers be able to play both comps. as a grade cricketer who has come from turf cricket i think they should play one or the other not fair to the other lads which some may not be able to compete at the standard they can

Footy has pretty clear cut rules about players coming back from league to amateur clubs, does cricket not have the same? (I haven't played cricket in many years, have no idea if any arrangements are in place).

Certainly unfair on others though, agree with that.

not sure of the rules (if there are any) but having a father heavily involved in junior cricket at adelaide turf level the things he says sounds like the some clubs (para hills main offender) have been leaving less talented kids out to play district players even going into finals with less than 11 on the first day so on the sencod the grade cricketers can play

If thats the case, not only the side but the club should be banned

Adelaide Turf started the season with a by-law which allowed you to play both comps untill you played 6 District Games then you would have to apply for a Permit to continue playing.

After 1/4 to 1/2 the season had been played and some clubs had turned District Players away and even had a club pull out as they could not field a side without District players.

They decided to change the rule and allow 3 District players to play in your side no matter how many and what grade they were playing in District.

I know in the South Division 3 clubs were playing guys who were playing B Grade District.

Marion played there Semi Final with a kid from Glenelg who play C Grade out there playing on the First Day and then he had to play District the 2nd Day so they were using a Sub Fielder.

You need a fair system. Clubs that are giving kids ago that are not good enough to play District are getting flogged by good quality players playing District Cricket as well as Turf.

Still any comp that changes rules half way through dosen't have much credability. The sooner the GM sees the door the better and we can get the Association back on track.

To be fair if a 16/17 year old kid is playing C grade district cricket then can't see a problem playing u/17 turf as IMO the standard of C grade / D grade district has dropped off a fair bit in recent season and that is not being disrespectful to the kid or those guys playing C/D grade district cricket.

I think as much as the standard of C/D Grade Cricket has dropped off I think the Turf Juniors have dropped of double that. It use to be a very strong comp where District Cricketers performed well but there performances didn't stick out like dogs b*lls like they have this year.

I think it would be fair to say most levels of cricket have dropped a bit from 5 years ago.

There seems to be some misinformation concerning the Gepps Cross team V Para Hills. The lad who scored 150 had played many times for Gepps this season, without dominating. He just had a good day out with the willow.

I am from Gepps but knew nothing of the brawl until I read about it here. All I can say is the Under 17's progressed to the final V Modbury so I guess Gepps were found to be blameless, assuming there was some sort of inquiry.
There is a bit of 'history' between Gepps and Para Hills, although that's more concerned with footy.
I have been involved previously with Para Hills cricket and found them to be very family oriented and well managed.

On a different topic, since the Gepps Under 13's left Para Districts last season to join North Eastern Juniors this season, I have found snobbery is alive and well. Despite having 50% of the team being just 9 or 10 years old, they finished minor premiers, and lost only one game.
Some opposition coaches have been pretty open in their hostility towards these 'upstarts'. How dare we take wickets and make runs!
Maybe they should realise that most of the kids have already had at least one season in the much tougher Para Districts comp, as 8 & 9 year olds, and are very, very experienced. The kids say that they feel they haven't done so well this season because last year they scored 6/267 in one match while their best this season was 'only' 5/210.
Our captain, aged 13, is in his 5th season with the Under 13's!

ONLY JUNIOR CRICKET FOR CHRIST SAKE. time for clubs and parents to let there kids enjoy themselves. yes its great to do well but come on lets get a grip. we need to make sure junior cricketers respect the values and the way cricket should be played, which is tough and hard but in good spirit.

That guy who scored 140 for Gepps opened grade 3 sernior cricket all last year and scored 800 runs. This year he's opening grade 1 senior cricket and scoring runs nearly every week.

Will be unlikely to play for Gepps this week as PDCA play sundays in finals. Will only play if the sunday is called off due to heat.

This weekend there will be 2 Sewells opening the batting in the PDCA grade 1 grand final. This guy, and his older brother.

They don't play senior turf cricket if that's what you're thinking.
