Worst Team in A grade

Postby razorback7 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 9:53 am

I played against Ashbourne on saturday first week of a two day game.
They batted first and we bowled them out for 82 in 34 overs, at the end of the day we were 8/270 i think of the remaining 36 overs. I was very surprised at how bad their team actually was. There opening bowler would not open in our C grade team.

Just thought i'd see which team everyone thinks is the worst in any of the A grade comps?

My vote is ashbourne followed closely in second by echunga...

haha very nice 10 wicket haul by farrin and hunsey even got in there with his massive leggies haha.
well i think we have declared 200 runs ahead, and weve got seventy too bowl at them next week.
i take it that baskets don't win too many then??

I Wouldn't get too cocky there Razorback7, I think with natural improvement, Echunga's young side is Not far away from their turn at the top and IMHO Nairne's position in the Top 4 has only been bought about by such a lack of depth in the A+EHCA 'A' Grade comp. As For Ashbournes Effort, they had a Depleted team and was one of very few Non-competitive efforts this season.

HAHA nairne should be on top jackpot jim.. we gave wistow an absolute flogging and they are clear on top position.. we beat langhorne creek easily without our top five batsmen and 3 of our four bowlers out... and this is the first time we have played ashbourne because the draw is sh!t and we only play the worst two teams once each...i would say the only player who was out for ashbourne last week was stuey darlington and he's back this week... he is their GUN player and he wouldn't open batting or bowling for any other A grade team except echunga... nairne has the best bowling attack in the league by far.. if we still had jimmy may and dunny at nairne we would be a very hard team too beat.. and if ashbourne have been so competitive why only one win for the season against echunga??? sorry not meaning too sound fired up haha :D

Razorback7.... Best Bowling Attack in the League by Far
Oh of Course, Thats why Nairne Had NO Bowlers in the Myer Shield Team. Lang Ck Had Warren, Golding and Perrey Represented tho Golding pulled out injured.
Would Personally like to Face Nairnes' Attack ahead of the Creeks.
Were you Playing in last years Semi- Final when Golding Blitzed Nairnes' Batting in Warrens Absence?

As for Ashbourne, It Is Possible to be competitive without Actually Winning Matches u Know.

Keep Practicing your Bowling A.D.

2nd Days Play saw Ashbourne Bat ALL day to Deny the Nairne Razorbacks an outright with Stiddo chalking up a TON in a VERY COMPETITIVE display.
I Believe a certain bowler (A.D.) finished with figures of 0/70 odd off about 14 overs.

so your saying langhorne creeks bowling attack of warren golding and perreys spinners is better then jon foster, jarred tait, andy duncan and steven hahesy?? + clint foster when he's fit...
i rate ben and goldy very highly dont get me wrong... they have two bowlers nairne has 4 or 5 or 6 depending on whos playing.
youve gotta be joking... think back a couple of weeks and nairne knocked of langhornes easily with warren and golding!! and we had our top five batsmen not playing haha
on saturday our fielding let us down i think the team dropped 7 catches... stiddo was dropped 4 times before he was on fifty, so he was very lucky to get a 100.
(A.D) as you say was pretty unlucky he had 4 of the dropped catches of his bowling and he got 2/70.. i think.

well done too ashbourne for batting the day out it was very boring cricket but they did very well too block for 70 overs...

i would rate langhornes, wistow, and hahndorf above nairnes bowlers, nairnes batters would be on par with hahndorfs, and wud b better if they had jimmy may.

the foster brothers are good bowlers in there first 3 overs when they bowl sharpISH, but run out of steam after that, oh and when there bowling to young kids they seem to bowl quick, but when sumone is spanking them they bowl medium pace, no swing, no cut straight up an down medium pace. tait is consistent, always with a bit of out curl, duncan is ok, and i havent ever seen hahsey bowl. i faced ben warren in invitational 11 game an he is a great bowler, out swing in swing, cut, pace.

It was the 'A' Grade match not 'B' as i Played with Troy (I.Farms 'B' Grade captain) in the Country Carnival Today.

No need to get Nasty as i Know most of you Nairne 'A' Graders Very well tho maybe not you.
Anyway Good Luck for the Upcoming Finals whilst i'll be having a Rest from Finals action this Year.

My Tip for the Flag is Wistow Bcos at Full strength they have the Strongest Batting line up imo.
