they put a message on the website asking players to turn up for net session at the Adel. Oval indoor nets. I dare say that the first 11 blokes to turn up got a start. then duly got their pants pulled down on a hard wicket

only 7 turned up for the first training run. this should be the pinnacle and players invited out to training if you dont want to then dont go but invite a squad of 25 say at least there will be a decent side. look i no one wants to play on sundays but either do it correctly or forget about it and pull the rep side

The ATCA side looked to basically be a Combined AHOS and Gepps Cross side without to many of the so called STAR players playing.

They possible got the whipping they deserved fielding that sort of side. I think some of these STARS are only interested if they are asked to play they won't just go out to any old training.

Correct Punter, but if blokes want to represent the association side they should not have to get asked. They had the option to come ot the trainings should they wish or let someone know but if they need their egos heightened they obviously do not want to be there enough and why should blokes be rewarded if they are not interested in being there when people who wantto play are in there. Maybe I am a little bit biased as I was in the side, but I think it is a disgrace when people think they can just expect a walk up start based on a so called reputation when they do nothing else to justify selection and clearly doent seem interested by their actions.

The batting was what stuffed us, 158 was never going to be enough. There were 4 mighty AHOS players, 4 Gepps Cross, 1 Rechabite, 1 Reynella, 1 Payneham. I wouldnt say the side was lacking good players, everyone in the side has made a mark on the competition or their previous competition at some point in the past anyway.

They outplayed us and we didnt adjust well to hard wickets.

Come off it RW its a rep side and you dont just post something on the net saying when training is and anyone fro A1 to A3 is welcome to try out. You select a squad and if players dont want to be there you dont pick them. Its not about ego but about selecting the best team you can. You dont see other rep sides inviting anyone out, what if 60 blogs turned up what would of happened then.

We did bat first and made about 153 I think. All out very poor batting effort. They got the runs in about 32 overs. Poor effort by us. Was about a 6 wicket loss I think.

Given half the ATCA side could only make 105 against Grange yesterday and the game is over (on 1st innings already) one has to wonder if the right leadership group was appointed to lead the ATCA side.....methinks it influenced if the better players in the A1 comp decided to come out and play....

Neeps to be done properly independant coach/management and invitations sent out to the best 20-30 players.

I think it is ridiculous that this individual can say that due to a side being rolled for 105 two weeks in a row that it has anythign to do with Waz. That same coach managed to get his side to a Grand Final last year so he cant have done too bad as a leader. Some of our batsmen are out of form, if they dont turn it around I am sure they will be replaced. Wazza is a good bloke if individuals have a problem with him based on what happens on the ground then again I say they are soft and touchy and if that is why they dont rock up for a training (which I think is ridiculous anyway as you could be representing your association, surely that is bigger than having one individual who someone may dislike as coach) then they obviously aren not that keen to play in the games therefore I have no problem with these individuals not being there in the first place.

My belief it should be like last season where each coach of each side invites two or three of their best players to go to the training. I agree an open invitation isnt the best way, I think this way is better nad gets a good mix from each team.

Anyway I disagree with Tassie Medallists notion, I have known Waz for 12 years and think he is drawing a long bow putting two crap TEAM batting efforts to the leadership of one bloke.

Thank you.

Rainbow Warrior

PS: Out of interest Shark_Hunter, what is your view on this matter?

My view is that they need to get a non playing coach and either have him go and look at players of interest in match conditions as John Rankin did a couple seasons ago. Or as RW said club coaches send our the best players.

I think the ATCA is going down hill in the professionalism of the Associtation and the way it is running.

How did the ATCA side go against the Para District boys? I know that Wazza was trying to recruit boys to play at 7:30pm on Saturday night.....
Rainbow Warrior - how'd you go?
