Very young side mate, oldest player in the side is Giersch at 36? then it is 24. Still have a long long way to go but showing good signs of improvement. Still a concern the batting but bowling and fielding is really good. I think if we where to get two good consistant batters we would be up there.

Yeah for the majority of the season thus far the eldest bloke is debrowski, at 24/25? great signs for the years to come. I think there has been an improvement but batting still lets the boys down a bit, but with experience comes consistency when you have good young players coming through and thats what i think we have here.

Plympton will be controling things that they can control, dont you worry about that.

I'll have $50 on a Section 1 PFCC premiership before a Division 1 PFC premiership...

Below is from the SCA thread, i remember when north haven put on a bit of a show like this a few years back and it was a great day... I though the concept had legs. Seems to be better set up than our T20 comp anyway!

The Southern District Cricket Club in association with the Southern Cricket Association, its A Grade clubs and the Reynella Cricket Club will hold the inaugural Southern Twenty-20 Smash on Sunday January 9, 2011.

In a knock out competition starting at 8:45 all eight teams will play Round 1 where only the winners will progress to the Semi-Finals. The program for the day is;

8:45 am,
Rd 1 Reynella v Southern, Reynella Oval
Rd 2 Morphett Vale v Flagstaff Hill, Bice Oval
Rd 3 Port Noarlunga v Seaford, Christies HS Oval
Rd 4 Noarlunga v Kangarilla, Woodcroft College Oval
12:30 pm,
1st Semi Winner Rd 1 v Winner Rd 4, Reynella Oval
2nd Semi Winner Rd 2 v Winner Rd 3, Bice Oval
4:30 pm Final Winner 1st Semi v Winner of 2nd Semi Bice Oval

The day looks like being a cracker with all the Southern cricket fraternity involved, catering will be available at Reynella and Bice Oval along with bar facilities.
A small entry fee will be charged at Bice Oval to support the event.
Prize Money of $500 is up for grabs which will be presented at the completion of the final at Bice Oval. all players and officials have been invited back to Bice Oval for a complimentary BBQ.
COME ALONG AND SUPPORT WHAT LOOKS TO BE A GREAT CELEBRATION OF CRICKET

Jabber - I believe that each club will receive a player from Southern Districts who has had a connection to that club at a junior/senior level.
Prizes for fastest 50, most wickets etc.

I wasnt worried jabber, the youth is great. Good signs indeed especially in the years to come.. I certainly wasn't having a knock.. Just curious to to see how things are going... There seems to be a positive feeling round the club (or so I've been told), which is something that has been lacking IMHO in previous years..

South road almost knocked wyc off outright. Needed 3 more wickets to do so. Handy win for us to get us of the bottom of the ladder. Maysie 11/69 off. 31 overs for the game easily MOTM.

South road way too good! I wouldn't say you nearly knocked us off outright though, considering your mob never had a crack and that was evident when you wanted to call it off at the end of the first innings! Maggot bowled well, peto was a bit inconsistent but Bowles enough wicket balls.

One thing we found staggering with south road was the lack of running between wickets, was terrible. Never looked for two or three's at all. Was rather weird.

Overall both sides batting was terrible and both sides bowling was good, with SR's having a great individual performance. Well played lads, too good.

Willson gets bowled by m. Whenan very unlucky though, turns around and hits stump with bat. Umpire says "I understand why he did it with that kind of dismissal as I woulda done the same thing' .. Precedent set with Tony now onwards ;)

We wanted to finish as soon as we had won cause we couldn't see an outright result happening but u blokes wanted to stay on. We set u blokes 160 off 22 overs and the fact we had u 7/80 would say that we did in fact 'nearly' beat u outright.
Couldn't help but laugh when Tony told us about the situation with Willo and how it was 'inappropriate' considering some of the garbage he had to put up with from the wyc skipper early in our 2nd dig.

Wouldn't complain too much about 'dubious' decisions in that match, but yeh, that last one was surprising. LBW from around the wicket to a spinner... Great game of cricket though and played in good spirits, be nice to play you guys at Morphys one year.

1/0 2/2 3/13 4/14 5/33 Curiously, at which point did you think it would be an easy win?

Last wicket stand of 42 between Spehr n Miller nearly got morphys home. Spehr's innings (61*) was the smartest batting i have seen in a long time.

Well at the half way point of the season, the section 1 ladder makes some interesting reading with Cove, Coromandel Ramblers, ICC Sharks, Glenelg ANA, Coromandel and Western Youth within a game of each other. Then there's Shiedow Park and Morphettville Park a game and some percentage out and then Keswick and South Road an outside change to make the four. Plympton and Westminster look too far back to make it.

With 8 teams still in serious contention of making the 4, anyone could beat anyone, it will make for an interesting second half of the season, with all teams needing to win to secure there place anyone could still make it. I think we might see a few outright games in the second half of the season, because teams will be chasing extra points that could make the difference.

I think if we had held our chances in your second innings or had a few close decisions go our way your second innings may have ended with 30 or 40 runs less to chase and would have meant we chased it all the way to the end to give both sides a more realistic chance of playing for the outright all the way to the last ball.

Based on the results to date and the draw remaining my tips for the final 4 at the half way mark are (in no particular order):

Cove, Coro Ramblers, Coromandel, Glenelg ANA

The two Coros have had pretty tough pre-Xmas draws so are in a good spot. Lourens bowling Coro to wins but must have a sore shoulder by now?? Things shared a little more evenly at the Ramblers.
Cove are unpredictable and haven't yet beaten a top side but will and are obviously in a good position to make finals
I can't see ICC making it with the toughest draw post Xmas
WYC could make it and may depend on the game vs Glenelg. Can't rely on 1 player to get them home.
Not sure about Glenelg, didn't have a strong game in Rd 6 but do have quality in the team so have to include them

I don't see any other club making it past the top 6 but will be wary of Keswick claiming some big scalps and almost getting there.
