I guess your directing that my way Rocky, havent learnt how to use the "quote" button yet Rocky?? ;)
Please read my post Rocky as i did say " a poor decision by a good umpire". Umps are human & makes mistakes as we all do, however im sure common sense should of prevailed resulting in Goolwa calling him back. I think you just fired up Compass Gold but only time will tell....

You can only get run out from a dead ball if the ball has became dead from a leg bye, when the batsman has not offered a shot or has not attempted to evade the contact. not from hitting the middle of the pitch

If anyone who thinks that Goolwa should of called Nashy back ,well you are all full of shite as if you would of done this if you were playing,as i said before DOYLE IS A PAID UMPIRE and we did say to him that it was NOT OUT when he called DEAD BALL but he said that it was his decision and he was out ,WHAT MORE DO WE HAVE TO DO. :shock:Beg that Nashy to come back out of club house and keep batting ,next time you guys go up for an appeal for a caught behind when u know the batter did not hit the ball and is given out well U had better ask him to come back and keep batting and overide a PAID UMPIRES DECISION and belittle him in front of everyone

And still Goolwa are likely to miss out on a finals berth AGAIN, where McLaren Districts are In... Go figure...

Here's a question for anyone on the forum, (not just Rocky). Is it true that for an umpire to give a batsman out there must be an appeal from the fielding team?

You say that you all knew that he wasn't out, yet someone still broke the stumps, and atleast one person must've appealed or else Doyley wouldn't have had to make the decision.

I also read another comment regarding there must be a deviation or irregular bounce for a dead ball to be given. Earlier in the season I was at the non-strikers end when my partner nicked one to 1st slip off the concrete. Doyley gave him out! I politely questioned it, and he quoted that exact rule. So he is aware of it and still called it a dead ball, so there must've been a deviation.

How can there NOT be any deviation / irregular bounce? One ball hits the concrete with nil matting - how can that be considered "regular" bounce??

IMO any ball that hits the concrete, dead ball should be called straight away..
