Footy Smart, without divulging too much as you don't want to give too many of the secrets away, but I'm wondering what sort of fitness based activities you're doing at pre-season training? I play turf cricket and our club lobs up a month before the season starts and has a hit in the nets and does some fielding training. Pretty keen to get fitter before the season starts and am keen to know what some of the grade clubs are doing.

Probably involves eating some don burgers for Footy Smart, he definitely wont be doing any anstey hill runs - may bring on his asthma!

Not going to reveal names but a player they have approached is still a teenager and he tore the blacks a new one during a 20/20 encounter last season.

Been plenty of attempts to recruit teenagers this off-season, some even still of junior cricket ages. Poor form, IMO.

I'm looking at you, Tea Tree Gully...

Cry me a river, similar thing happened by your coach last season with one of our first year seniors!

Its not like TTGDDC arent playing our young kids and instead filling our sides with recruits or poms. A coach wouldnt be doing the right thing by the club by not appraoching players to fill gaps in a very young squad.

And I told him it was poor form at the time.

I disagree that leaving no stone unturned is a positive approach - it's not a great look if you are a junior/young senior coming up in a club that is actively recruiting to replace you. I'm a big believer in having some credibility as a club and this move shoots it in the foot.

Approaching a player to replace someone is totally different to approaching a player to fulfill a role ie experience/leadership. TTGDCC have a very very young squad throughout the grades. Experience is required to help these kids develop, its not to starve the kids of opportunity its to not throw them in the deep end and watch them sink.

So contacting a 15 year old from another club is to bring in experience? Your clubs in all sorts of strife if that's the case!
