Word on the street is Risdon CC players will be cooking the barbie at the Central Hotel bottleshop tomorrow from 4-7pm. Is that a bit of a step down from chef duties at the Risdon Hotel?

Ok gents, lets talk cricket

Champions League:
Props v Risdon - MOTR easily, Props have big in the last couple of weeks but they aren't playing against the 4th and 7th ranked teams this week. Both teams have quality players but I think Risdon have more depth so they should win. A.Rasheed to top score.
Germein v Solly - Solly scored 296 a few weeks ago but hopefully they wont be playing on a postage stamp this week. Germein have the bowlers to keep them contained. I think Germein will win with Sollies sometime lack of numbers being a concern. S.Cook to top score...Jesus most wickets
Wandies v Warnertown - Warnertown should easily account for Wandies who seem to be struggling for numbers..Warnertown are a quality side with the likes of Foster. D.Foster most runs and wickets in a MOTM performance.
South Port v Strykers - South Port easily

IPL
Wandies v Risdon - Risdon will be keen to improve on the last meeting, Wandies might struggle for numbers while Risdon having players coming out their a***. R.Anderson most runs and wickets
Props v Sollies - The young Sollies side have some good bowlers but lack commitment and passion. Props are argueably the best side and Pirie and should win easy. J. Makai to run through Sollies batting taking 5 wickets before passing out after having what side is having.

Is there a cleaner hitter of the ball in Port Pirie cricket than Risdon's Brad Pine?
Just watched another punishing innings from Brad at Port Oval (where the beers were very reasonably priced I must say).
Brad's effortless back foot punch over point for six off Wandearah's David Clarke was the highlight of an entertaining knock.

Also great to see Dirk Tazelaar supporting Risdon CC's BBQ at the Central Hotel drive thru last night. Great work Dirk.

What price were the beers PPLions, i keep hearing they are reasonably priced but no one can give a cost.
Who won the games today? Likely no B grade again due to rain. Well done Brad Pine, i will take your unbiased word on his knock and respect your opinion on the clean hitter view. Any other names we can put forward so we can make a comparison. Was he available for the combined games?

Nathan Marwick when he is up and running.
Mat Thornton (his only problem is he likes to stand and watch his shot rather than concentrating on running)

I think I saw a few spare cartons at Memorial Oval squids.

In the Country Living Homes Twenty20 Playoff Round at Memorial Oval today Props defeated Wilmington-Melrose (I think) in the first game but were outclassed by Lincoln South in the Final.
Props batted first in the final and made about 93 which Lincoln South passed one or two down in the 12th over for a comprehensive win.
I think Simon Fuchs may have been injured as I dont remember seeing him bowl in the final.
Tate Bradley batted quite well for a few overs for Props.

Try the upper north zone round for season 2011/12. They are the UNZ champions as were wandearah last season. I think you will find they are awarded medallions and there is to be a shield, backdated to include wandearah. You did not search far enough, one wonders why or can we guess.
Pleased to help you.

So Props get a shield for winning a couple of 20/20s they played a few weeks ago?

No props do not "get" a shield, i have been told there will be a perpetual shield with the winner of the UNZ being named on that shield. That is why if you had of taken notice i said it would be backdated to include wandearah. Next season it could be a roxby downs team. If risdon win the pirie premiership and win the UNZ section of the competition it will be them if they take part in it. I am told the shield is likely to be named after a person who has contributed a lot to cricket in the UNZ.

No squids you are right, Props have never won a T20 comp but unfortunatly at this stage the PPCA does not run a T20 comp so that kinda makes it hard for any of our Pirie teams to win one. Im pretty sure we are one of the only S.A. country leagues not to run such a comp so Props being last years premiers won the right to play in the champions league as Wandies did last year. The rumours getting around at the moment are the league is looking at adding a round of T20s into next years program and the winner of that and not the premiers will go through to the champions league next year. Hope I have cleared up any confussion.
