I heard Glenelg had only 1 applicant.

Yes, I did hear that, no idea who though. I am believing that you got a few based on that. My tip was Costello, but hear time might be an issue, my second guess would have been Busbridge, but hear that he is away too often, so I can't even play the tipping game. Here is one from left field - Peter Sleep.

Head coach - Russell Thompson (impacting on all areas of the club)
A Grade coach - Andrew Costello
Senior assistant - Paul Collier (C/D focus, development of young cricketers)
Women's coach - TBA (working on a big fish for this role)U16 - Chris Phillips
U14 - Derek Woodcock (coup of the season!)
U12 - Alan Stafford
Specialised coaching roles - many and various!

Exciting year aheaed at the Jets!

Did not know that James Pyke was moving up north! ;)

I hope your taking the piss a.chucka... because ill think youll find a lot of grade cricketers had to give up thier club cricket respective of grade cricket to pursue thier interests of school cricket!!!!

I will admit to being incorrect re students being able to play Grade Cricket by choosing sports other than cricket. Having checked with a few colleges, students must play College Cricket before Club Cricket. However, this is waived if a student is chosen in A Grade. Then the College will release them most weeks (an exception woud be if they have an Intercoll or similar). A similar situation with SANFL football where Sacred Heart release Ben Kennedy to play for Glenelg most weeks.
However, Grade clubs are well aware of this situation and should not be putting pressure on College students to play for them. I know at least one who tell the students that if they do not play club cricket rather than College cricket, they will not be selected to play club cricket during the school holidays. This is unfair pressure on the students and really ends up working against the club - a number of students transferred from this club to a nearby one.
Cheers

SMAC, I don't know Phillips and Stafford but I would tip they are appointments from inside the club, certainly the only surprise there is that Collier is working with the seniors and probably C or D Grade captain. So you like the rest of the clubs have found that spending $500 on a Sunday Mail ad is a waste of time because there are very few, if any people out there that want to coach Grade Cricket.

Not a waste of time in terms of applicant numbers, quality is another matter though. We did uncover a technical coach who makes the spend on the ad worthwhile, but that is lucky I think. Networking provided the best results for us, certainly.

Sounds like there's a few changes happening for next season.
Seperate comps for 2-day, 1-day and T20 in As (no combined rounds) and no T20 outside of As.
Cricket will be played on the Test match Saturday, even though I think that will be Day 4 this year (Aust Day is on the Thurs).
Season opener is a 1-day match on Monday of the October long weekend.

Would think there would be few players would be unhappy with the last two. Realise they need to fit the games in somewhere though...

Very pleased to hear of separate competitions. I believe most would be happy with that news.
Bit disappointed to hear of playing on the Test Match Saturday.

It's day 5 of the test match, unlikely to cause too much angst I would have thought?

When the clubs vote on what they want and then approve what is put in front of them - don't rush that Grade Cricket Committee, they're busy discussing the current form of Bradman!

Lower grades have always been ok, even back when I played... surely that adds up to future success but what happened?

Shaun Tanner named A grade captain recently.
Well done to the Port Noarlunga prodigy.

We had a season review about 4-6 weeks ago which about 35 attended. The pre season program Ben has set up shows he has definately listened to the points the players raised which is great.

Need to knock in the new stick before the first net session  missus will love it!
