On this note, is it the coaches call when selecting sides or the skipper decides who to take into battle and leave the coach to do the Tuesday/Thursday activities? Personally I think to many chiefs spoil the peace pipe ;)

So I am right then! ;)

From the look on his face sunday i would say you have hit the nail on the head...looked very dejected.. Pretty easy when you look at it...masha in rick out...no wonder he is pissed, how many A grade games has masha played this year? Not saying its his fault at all, but being coach you would think rick would have some say? I guess thats what happens when a outsider comes into a close net enviroment, doesnt always seem to work..start feeling used in the end i would imagine.. My money is on he wont be there next year..

If only you were actually good enough to play A grade this week...lucky there is a forum for blokes like you i guess..

Mate I play my role in a successful club, played a few Grade One games and a few Grade Two games throughout the year. We at Brahma enjoy playing at the club and unlike some young quick at Rosies who was enquiring elsewhere about next season because he was playing B grade cricket. But with blokes like Sibbick, Brown, Hargraves and Marahall as leaders of the club there is no wonder why there is such a appreciation for what needs to be done by each individual.

Don't know anything about this, but if it is true, well you summed it up nicely with the word YOUNG. Some people need to earn their stripes and word their way to the top. Looking at the A grade bowling line up - McCarthy, Figallo, Kent, Feltus, Jenner - you can see quite an amount of experience and depth. No one can expect just to walk into an A grade team at any club.

Like i said i know nothing of this, and i don't even know the person in question but yeah if he has aspirations of playing harder, need to work hard for it not jump ship. If he feels he is good enough to play A grade and he is playing B grade it just goes to show the depth R&C are developing and can only be good for the club in future years.

Thats hilarious, I have had a player from Brahma enquire about playing elsewhere next season, you think it only happens at other clubs and not Brahma, get your head out of the sand mate. It happens everywhere and every season. ;)

I was told from someone very close to his home. But you are correct, Sibbick and Brown are both very good bowlers, Harrison has taken plenty of wickets and Marks has taken a bundle of wickets in the twos. Two spinners suited Greenwith to a tee and loosing 2 games (I think) for the year, clearly the selection process is correct!

I can only think of one person who you could be talking about and this person got his opportunity in round 12 due to a A grader getting injured..he took his opportunity and took wickets now he finds himself playing in a A grade grand final... Goes to show what you did when you were presented with the same opportunity hey? At least we have got blokes who can come up and stay up..

Some people really have no idea sometimes. Gower did not play on the weekend due to the selection commitee (which includes him) not finding him in the best 11. Throughout the year he has played a good fill in role for when we haven't had everyone available for selection. The reason he did not play 2s is because he wanted to be at the a grade as a coach.
He will be at brahma lodge next year to help introduce us into a new and exciting time in the clubs history.

Also brahma is very lucky to have a bloke like sibb there, like i have said before when he retires which lets face it is just a matter of time, you guys will still play your soccer and still think you are it and a bit, but the success on the field will stop.. If he goes 2 more seasons you will go up the ranks but will then come crashing down very quickly...but best of luck with guys like you being the future..

News Flash---Merki makes his services available to the winner of the GF for the next season . Definite chance with merk in the team to go back to back 8)
There once was a bloke named Fracka,
Scored runs since he was a young tacka,
But alas not anymore,
his shot selection's been poor,
and now they call him QUACKA!!

sports follower wrote:So here is the reason I was told why Gower didnt play and I know the Lodge boys will refute it till the cows come home.

I was told he was not selected in their A grade side and refused to play B grade :( , I would of thought the coach would of had some say in selection but obviously not at the Lodge. Maybe he is there to show Groover where to put the cones. ;)

Their B grade skipper was not happy with his decision and surely they cant change their sides for this weekend.

So its not because of some infected toe or any other crap they would like us to hear. I would of thought they had a standard response ready for this question as it was going to be raised this week. They are normally all saying the same responses to most questions so why didnt they have this one covered, maybe the committee are also not happy he refused to play?

Sorry to disapoint you but a few reasons why this is untrue
1stly at the Lodge the coach is chairman of selectors and as such has final say on any selection throughout the grades, regardless of what the captain requests although that is taken into consideration
2ndly the change was not only supported but wanted and Masha is an important member of the A Grade squad
As Groover mentioned the coach has been a fill in player and in all honesty been looking for a way out of playing for a number of weeks. If you knew any history on the player you would know they are a bowler who currently can not bowl and has upcoming surgery booked in. Due to not really enjoying playing as a bat and being in constant pain, the fill in role has been to assist the club to limit changes whilst other players have been unavailable and the plan was to cease playing much earlier in the season.

Much more boring that some people would have you believe and if anyone does have an issue with just coaching for finals they have not voiced it at the club
