Talking about Umpires.. Grade 2 fsemi against Craigmore yesterday we had a very interesting discussion going on at one stage with one of the umpires telling us that it our fault that play couldnt be started because we set the matting up to early knowing there was rain on its way.. then also saying that if brahma Lodge had other mats that we should be changing them over

I dont think one of the umpires wanted play to start yesterday while the other was very keen.
I have heard all clubs were informed if it was raining they were not to put mats out, common sense really.

Comment of the day goes to Brahma's B grade captain " I didnt know it was going to rain today", laughed to myself as it had been forecast for days and it was very overcast all morning. Dont give up your day job mate.

SF You reckon there was a tongue in his cheek.... Once again, if you look at the overall year, you would have to be disappointed. Great recruits to bolster the strength of the club, on the back of some great talent from 2 years ago in the juniors, and too only finish 3rd in a very weak competition is not good enough. Going into the season you would of been firm favourites. Back to the drawing board..again. PS where is Papas?

Unlike Fry to be sarcastic 84..... ;)
I dont think you are allowed to change the mats mid game anyway?

Honestly though, it was so wet and dark at the end if one of our bowlers had have seriously injured themselves those umpires would have been in a bit of trouble I think. And yes we did let them know about it.... :)

Definately tongue in cheek, I did say I laughed to myself, most amusing thing I have heard him say, usually pretty dry bloke I think.
Yeah were disappointed but if you dont finish top 2 weather can play a part in the finals, we all know that at the start of the season. Great recruits, gee some compliments from the Brahma boys, in all seriousness Hewy has been the pick of all players in grade 2 this season and should win the medal next week.
Dont know about us being firm favourites before the season started, I think Units would of been my favourites as they played finals last season and we didnt, so we have improved. May see a few retirements from the side from the weekend and need a few of those kids to stand up to A grade cricket.
Papas is probably at work mate, I have no idea.

It was very dark towards the end. Didnt need the rain to start, we had our backs to the wall but you never know, Elliott was hitting them very well and cracked a couple of good 6's and if he had been able to stay for another 20 overs, who knows.
Who did you let know about it, the umpires?

We being the supporters standing around telling the umpires that we couldn't see them as they were coming off the field
I reckon he smashed a couple of coverdrives away in a row earlier for boundries - great shots. Certainly was trying very hard in a hopeless situation.

What a load of crap.

Good luck to Duane at the Para District Kangaroo Court.

From experience this year the tribunal proceddings are a f**king joke!

Sorry to say but the tribunal will have there mind made up already no matter what Duane says, they will always back one of their own (Don) before they back the player.

I think R&C will either need to get a few of the Angle Vale boys there to back what Duane said or take legal action and get an injunction so he will be able to play this week at least.

but, Duane should know (as everyone does) not to say anything to Donny, if you do, you'll get reported - Whether its right or wrong.

Browny25 so if the umpire in question dont like you he has the power to say you said this or that report you and you have to cop it....

no wonder people are leaving pdca and lots wont play in it either....

No he doesnt have the right to back chat to players at all, otherwise thats just a one way street.

Umpires dont sign up to be abused though either.

Anyhow, i think the umpire in question is a "special" case.... :)

Donny abused OKC and started a massive incident against AV this year. He is on drugs. He snaps and his pupils quadrupole in size and they are as black as his black book all in the matter of 5 seconds.

More concerned about you mate...instead of being pre-occupied about defending the team you should be playing in maybe you should worry about your own form. ;)

Mate you dont need to be concerned with me, maybe you should be worried about your form for next week....oh sorry.

You are right, I probably should be playing grade 2, but I am not, and I am having a hit in Grade 1, something you Craigmore lads wont know about next year. Well done at failing in the business part of the season again, especially against a B grade side.

And finally, I dont even know who you are so maybe you should share with me your identity so it is fair when you have a go at me......

We thought we would have a maximum of about 34 overs to make 231, so we decided to have a crack cause it was the only way we could make the GF, after 15 overs I think we were 4/80ish with about an hour to play but it was as dark as the ace of spades. After drinks I think we lost a wicket in the first couple of overs to a good catch in the conditions.
Then your bowler slipped a couple of times and the umpires said it was getting too dangerous and sent us off and said if it improved we could go back on but we decided to call it off as the conditions were not going to get any better.

What other option did Craigmore have bat out the overs, whats the point? Time and the conditions were against us but we cant control the weather, well done to Brahma on getting into the GF with days like yesterday thats why it is important to finish top 2.

Do agree, no point batting for the time and waiting, 8 an over was required, and might as well have a crack. CCC have some lads who can get onto it, if the light stayed ok and weather held off, you never know.

going on experience last year. if it gets to the tribunal more than likely according to their book of law and wisdom you will still get a game but the committee members in the tribunal can also vote it out if they think its un reasonable. That is what happened with us last season.

also take teh whole rose and crown side down there as witnesses to prove a point. If you can get a couple of the AV boys then that will help a heap too.

Don wasnt even umpiring the game but he come running on the ground and told the umpire to report phil neil for swearing at the side line. He only did it once. Was a complete Joke. We went to the tribunal and he still got a game but the committee guys at the tribunal said they needed 3 of the 5 members to vote it off if it was un reasonable and that is what happened.
